Now, star wars isnt over, thats fucking obvious. George Lucas is going to harvest the franchise for all its worth, but that isnt necessarily bad. Yes, Clone Wars was a abomination, but maybe, just maybe, Lucas will make some good stuff out of the franchise.
How do you want the franchise to continue?
Personaly, I think Lucas understimates the potential behind his lesser villains: Darth Maul, Count Dooku, and General Grievous.
I would love to see a "Darth Maul: Origins" movie. I honestly think theres a lot of potential behind the characer, mainly because of one thing that makes him unique in the Star Wars universe: he is not a tragic villain, he is not even evil, he is just the pure embodiment of hatred.
The movie would be like Kill BilI: separated in 2 volumes. In the first volume, we would see his early childhood, he could have been an orphan that lived on the streets and had to deal with bullying from the rich kids.
One day, his town would be attacked by the Mandalorian Mercenaries, the group of which, later, Jango Feet would be part of.
Maul uses the force to protect himself, and Palpatine, who had payed the Mandalorians to destroy the town, sees that the boy has potential with the dark side, so he takes him as his aprentice.
And then we get to see the brutal training Maul goes through. He is hardened by it, but he still can feel other emotions that arent hatred, and he thinks of palpatine as a father figure. But then Maul goes through his final test: "The ultimate test came when Maul was abandoned by his master on an isolated Outer Rim Territories world, forced to survive alone while being hunted by hordes of assassin droids. After a month's time, Sidious returned and challenged his apprentice to a lightsaber duel, one which Maul quickly lost. Sidious then tossed Maul's lightsaber aside and told Maul that he had failed, and revealed that he had been secretly training another apprentice to replace Maul the entire time. Rage and hatred overwhelmed Maul and, in one final act of defiance, he lunged forward and sunk his teeth into his master's hand. As he spat the blood back into his master's face in contempt, Maul realized he was no match for the Dark Lord of the Sith, and when Maul's emotions were finally spent, he prepared himself for death. Sidious struck his lightsaber down on Maul, but without killing him since it had only been a training lightsaber. Sidious then laughed. By wanting to kill his own master, Maul had in fact passed the final test. There had been no other apprentice. Sidious proclaimed him Darth Maul, a Lord of the Sith and took him to a new home on Coruscant."
And now he becames 100% percent the avatar of hatred we all know and love. "Darth Maul becomes little more than a savage animal. A being of pure hatred and evil, thanks to his harsh training under Sidious. However, he was not totally heartless, granting those he felt worthy of his respect quick and painless deaths. He was even capable of some level of emotional connection with others, feeling respect, admiration, perhaps even a level of attachment towards his master, despite his torturous years under Sidious. Likely because he knew nothing else."
The next scene would be a "torture-like" scene" in which Palpatine would put on Darth Maul his famous tatoos.
Then Palpatine would send Maul on several missions to kill the menbers of the "Brotherhood of Darkness" a group of warrior monks who worshiped the dark side. Check out this awesome fan video to see what it would look like:
And then we would get shown to his fight with Obi-wan and Qui-gon, and at the end, his death.
The second volume would begin right after episode 3.
A misterious hooded man has been hunting Obi-wan for years, "as it turns out, Maul somehow survived his bisection and subsequent fall into the reactor shaft on Naboo. Fitted with cybernetic legs, he began a vicious hunt for the only person to have defeated him; Obi-Wan Kenobi. He hunted the Jedi for many years, always being but a step behind him until 16 BBY when he discovered Owen Lars and a toddler-age Luke Skywalker. He attacked them menacingly while still staying in his hooded cloak, his triple-jointed droid legs (similar to Grievous's) the only part of him visible. He proceeded to call out through the Force to an unseen enemy he could nevertheless sense. The evil, psychic voice claimed to have been tracking this adversary for years, just missing him on Kamino, Geonosis, and Mustafar and to have killed many witnesses on Polis Massa before finally gaining crucial information in Mos Espa from an aged Toydarian junk dealer, who he then murdered. The dark creature declared that he knew threatening Luke Skywalker would bring his adversary out into the open. At this point, a gray-haired Obi-Wan Kenobi burst from the sand and confronted Maul, provoking the former Sith to cast aside his cloak and reveal his identity. With his severed lower body replaced by a pair of large cybernetic legs and abdomen, and his cranial horns having grown, crown-like, to over three times their original length, Maul was consumed with greater hatred than ever before and clearly never resumed contact with his former master, having dedicated his new life to avenging himself on the man who had bested him. Maul and Kenobi rematch. Kenobi and Maul engaged in a furious rematch. Kenobi managed to gain the upper hand when he severed Maul's arm, cutting the darksider's weapon in two in the process, as well as breaking some of Maul's horns with his bare hand. Mouth gaping in a silent scream, Maul summoned the remaining half of his weapon and turned to face Kenobi, only to find himself facing the Jedi's lightsaber emitter. With his lightsaber hilt to Maul's forehead and his finger on the blade-ignition button, Kenobi hesitated to execute his helpless opponent, but had the decision taken out of his hands when the revived Owen literally blew the former Sith's head off with his damaged rifle. Obi-Wan said he would take the body and burn it in the Dune Sea, to which Owen replied, "I told you I'd keep him safe, and I will. Even if that means from YOU. You don't come back here. Understand?" Obi-Wan departed with Maul's corpse, speaking to Luke through the Force, assuring him "Don't worry. I'll be right here… even if you can't see me."
And then the movie skips to years later, the remainders of the Brotherhood of Darkness use the dark side to bring Maul back to "life" as a being made of pure Force. They ask him to overtrow the Emperor so that they can achieve power, but Maul, realizing that he had only been Palpatine's tool and never really the sith "Chosen one", kills the entire brotherhood, sayng that he will never again be someone's tool. He then goes after the Emperor, to have his revenge. And the movie's finale would be a badass fight between Maul and Vader.
Vader defeats him and Maul dies, this time permanently, but right after Maul dies, his body fades away. This was the second time Vader had seen this, the first was when he killed Obi-wan, and he questions the Emperor about this. Unsatisfied with the answer, Vader starts to question himself and his actions.
2) Ugh, don't even get me started on the abomination that is the STAR WARS EU. From that video above, I think you can see why.
3) As for the future of the STAR WARS franchise, to quote the great and wise Master Yoda, "Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future." If the live-action show that's in the works is as awesome as what I hear it'll be, it'll clean the shit taste of the new Clone Wars show right outta your mouth. If not, then so be it. We move on and it fades out of memory. Something better will eventually pop up, and if not, the perfection that is IV, V, and VI will still be around. (That is, what the smart and actual fans of STAR WARS would do).I find that when it comes to the franchise of STAR WARS, it's never the show or whatever it is that's the problem. It's the quote and unquote fans that are the problem. Some are bound to like it and some will go out of their way to humiliate themselves publicly to unjustifiably protest that the new stuff is destroying not only the original movies, but the childhood of the people who watched them. I feel the latter to be a bit extreme and ridiculous, but to each his own. (Even if they're spoiling the fun for the rest of us). [At the risk of sounding like an ass] To reiterate the quote on my page, "The franchise is fine; reboot the fans."
4) As for what I personally would like to see from the franchise, (besides the new live-action show), is another and better Clone Wars series that actually focuses on the Clones, themselves. Jedi's who fought in the war will be in the show, of course, but they will appear very little throughout the series. It's kinda like an extension of what Genndy Tartakovsky did with the original Clone Wars show, but instead of nothing but action-action-action constantly, there will be actual stories following different soldiers and troops on different planets at different stages of the war, all leading up to Order 66. The most important aspect of the show will be that it adheres to established rules and style of the STAR WARS universe. Written by people who know not only how to right but are real fans of STAR WARS. No taking liabilities with characters or anything; it is written so that it all fits within the rules and universe of STAR WARS.
5) Lastly, I would not like to see a Darth Maul movie. Perhaps like a small mini-series that explores the background of the villains that were in the Prequels but not a movie solely on Darth Maul. Also, they could draw stuff from the EU but I'd prefer if it weren't taken straight from the EU. Most of it would be original, actually intriguing, and not stupid. Not stuff like Maul coming back after being halved and somehow surviving the fall into a reactor shaft, (or whatever it was), coming back to not only fight Obi-wan and die, but then coming back to fight Darth Vader; only to have been killed by Vader in some cheap-ass way. Who, mind you, was unable to kill him by, I dunno, is amazing strength or his incredible control of the Force. I understand that Vader wasn't as powerful in the Force after he was encased in his iron lung, and all, but to have him not be able to stand up to Maul is just ridiculous.

"Darth Maul: Origins" movie?
Wait, you want a prequel to the prequels? You want to see a story regarding Darth Maul, before Palpatine was a senator? When he was a kid? Are we supposed to get to see him being buddy-buddy with Obi-wan too? And really, a Mandalorian unit? You mean a unit that is supposed to be still wearing armor that was reportedly from an ancient civilization that was already around 50-75yrs dead BEFORE Star Wars 1?
Sorry, while I think that Pre-prequel books MIGHT still be interesting. In all honesty, the only thing that I can see that will really work for Star Wars is to stop going to the "older" material, and let's start to focus on the Post-Return of the Jedi era. Let's see the efforts of the Rebels to re-establish the republic while fighting hold-out cells of the old Empire. The fact that even though the Second Death Star is destroyed, doesn't mean that ALL of the Empire's evil plans are over with. Timothy Zahn's books were great, but let's go a bit further. Let's see the effects of Luke as the only "recognized Jedi" in the known universe and if he'll be able to re-establish the training facility. Will Leia and Han actually be able to settle-down or will they be constantly kept apart from political events getting in the way?
There's tons of stuff to do AFTER the original trilogy, but before the Original Trilogy has sort of been ruined as a feeling for Star Wars by the prequels. Let's no continue the trend of "going backward", and let's start going "forward".
I see you put a lot of thought into that but yeah I want to see Darth Maul but if that doesn't happen I know that George Lucas will make this one right.
today in the UK, something spectacular happened, this track just got to number 1 in the singles chart, for the past 3-4 year the X-Factor has more or less bought the beloved Xmas number 1 spot, a select few were fed up this and decided to stand up…
Here they are, movies I will never watch no matter what. I have noticed the majority of my list are sequels so this could also count as sequels I will never see. If you can think of any I should avoid, tell me now and save me before it is too late!…
