The Film That Made You See Things in a Deeper Meaning
What was the movie that shook you deep inside your soul? That one movie that not only changed how you look at film, but life in general. For me it would be A Clockwork Orange. When I first saw that film it shook me to my very core. It made me question the way I looked at life and what it meant to be human. It was the first movie I saw that made me think days on end. From that point on I never saw film the same way again. Film to me wasn’t just about entertainment anymore; it was a form of art, and it was a way to speak your mind. Do you have a film like that? If so what is it?

A Clockwork Orange. It was my first Kubrick film and WOW it floored me. It was the film that inspired me to become a filmmaker. It sparked a fascination inside me. It made me want to study the human conscience and the true meaning of life and morality. So I watched it again and again and studied it obsessively. Such a passionate, destructive, beautiful film. It was the movie that truly solidified my love for cinema.

Ah yes haha! OH MY BROTHER, I am glad to see that you have it as well. What I hate is when people say they love it for simply staring at the violence and humiliation (which was pretty damn entertaining) and not even think while watching it. What I would like is for them to actually dig deeper into the philosophical masterpiece before them.
What did you think of Eyes Wide Shut? It is my 2nd favorite Kubrick film.

I hate it when people say that just because Kubrick shows rape and violence that he condones it. He's making a point dammit!
But when I first watched Eyes Wide Shut I didn't like it that much. I thought it was kinda boring. But I watched it again cause well (cough Nicole Kidman cough) and I liked it alot better the second time. It's alot like Clockwork on how the story is structured. I found it alot funnier too. Tom Cruise is getting offers left and right to have sex and he's like "No!" But when he wants cheat on his wife, then thats when shit goes wrong. Kind of ironic you know haha. It has a cool message too, can people really stay faithful and if you can trust others. Makes you THINK!

Uh, yeah, uh, Kidman was, uh (*cough cough!) great...
I thought the humor worked well with the ironic story structure, and it still managed to be one of the darkest films I had ever seen. And that final word to close it couldn't have been written any better. It doesnt necessarily exploit sex but takes us into the darkest depths of it. How lust and desire can dig us into our own personal, mental hell. It does make you think if you so choose too. I loved it a lot when I first saw it, but weeks later it had really grown onto my skin. You can't shake a film like it. And the forbidden sex mansion stretch was awesome and equally terrifying.
I liked the message as well. I was glad to see that it didn't end on a completely dismal note. A better name for this film in my opinion would have been HUNGER or TRUST. You have already covered trust, but I think the title "Hunger" sums up a longing for companionship and all sorts of sex.
In the beginning of the film we see a man strongly flirting with Kidman, she rejects him and likes it. She likes that men lust after her as opposed to her husband who can just have her. She is a passionate person who really doesn't know who she is. The man she rejected is someone I felt for. Kubrick provided enough dialogue to show us just how desperate this aging person was for companionship.
I think the most unsettling part of the film for people my age is to look at their parents and wonder if they have similar feelings and irritation towards one another.
