just finished watched Ch4's drama set in an alternative Britain, where the death penalty has been re-introduced for certain crimes, the first case of course is the 'gary glitter' peodophille rape in vietnam.
i wasn't sure what to expect because it is such a controversial subject matter, Hilton McRae give a great performance as paul francis gadd (glitter) who under new laws is tried and sentenced to death in the british courts then follows the proceedings till the sentence is carried out offering various arguments and view points along the way. i'm not sure what this was meant to do but it hasn't changed my view that we shouldn't re-introduce the death penelty in this country even in such shocking cases as this.
anyone else watch it and what did you think of it?
It'll probably air down here soon enough. What I'm wondering is wasn't the crimes in Vietnam? How is it tried in British court (alternate or otherwise)? I'm not too sure of the circumstances.
most UK channels are on the web, type 4OD into google you'll find it, to try and answer your question i'm not totally sure either but since he was convicted of having pornographic images on his computer in this country a few years ago i think that that sort of entitles the government to keep track of him abroad (i think it covers this near the begining of the drama but i was half asleep) since he is a regestered sex offender.
Thanks, dude! I'll try it but some of the content on the UK sites isn't available abroad. Like how I could only watch the first episode of Dead Set. The other episodes were only able to be viewed on the web there.
so much for the world wide web why can't the content be universally available do they not even at a push think of the ex pats who still want to see british telly. but the glitter thing is cut with actual footage from the time, well enough to make you question it (glitter is heavier than McRae) the only hate campain this has fired me up on is GARY BUSHELL IS A CUNT my mate said he looked so sincere (even though it's make believe) he's there just as a talking head as is miranda sawyer (who whores herself out to whatever compilation of muck needs voices) but these minor niggles aside it wasn't as bad as it could have been considering.
If you haven't heard of this show yet, I'm sorry to bring it to your attention. Anyways, on Current, they've been airing a show "based" on Rotten Tomatoes' website. What it really is is a clusterfuck of webcam reviews of the previous week's movies...
