The Dark Knight Rises Discussion *SPOILERS*
Just a general discussion of the movie, with spoilers and all. Just to start it off, what were your guys' favorite moments?
Mine is, without a doubt, when Batman has Bane pretty much beat and he tells him "When I have the trigger, then you have MY permission to die."
Also, if this discusion is happening elsewhere, feel free to re-direct me to wherever that may be.

YES THAT ONES A CHEESY, YET ONE OF MY FAVORITE LINES Batman does that in every movie, "You Never Learn to mind your surroundings" "No But i know how you got these" i was really hoping he would do that just one last time and he did, and i was like OHHHHH HE DID IT THAT MY BATMAN YEAHHH!!!!

Favorite part is the sewage brawl where he breaks the Bat. It's where you really get to see a villain that can give Bruce a run for his money in hand to hand combat. The part where he's just standing there as the flash bombs are going off around him as he stands over Batman is just so damn godlike.

I have to agree totally. Everything about that sequence was right, there was no music just the sound of Bane pummeling Batman to the ground. There was also that great dialouge throughout the fight that bane was saying. I also liked the fact that there was something ferocious and almost primal about the way Batman fought that I thought was missing in the other movies.

I thought the climax of the movie was brilliant. After seeing the trilogy as a whole it really made sense for the story to end the way it did. No it doesnt follow the blueprint laid out by the comics, but that what i always liked about Nolan's Batman films. They take place in a realistic setting and after seeing the movie as second time I found it even more enjoyable. I was really happy to see that they had the guts to not compromise their original vision of how this trilogy was going to end.

I had a lot of disappointment with this film. I wish it had ended less like The Avengers, Batman doing basically what Iron Man did. I wish they had done something other than "Villain has possession of bomb" storyline we tend to see a lot. It's not their fault, but everyone knew about Talia Al Ghul, and I so wished that she and Catwoman would have has a fight scene. Also, stupidly cliche to have a prison that you're totally allowed to try and escape from. If Bane never wanted to see Batman again, he should have amputated his legs and put him in Gitmo. Wished that Bane had gotten a proper death scene, instead of just being blown out of the picture. And lastly of my problems, during the Climax, they should not have kept flashing to John Blake on the bridge, because that bit did not matter at all.
I love most of what Bane say's, and his contempt for businessmen is great. Anne Hathaway was my favorite character, although I have no idea what was up with that friend of hers that was tagging along with her. Cillian Murphy's cameo was awesome, and I love watching the villains at work. With the protagonist, they tell you what their plan is. With the villains, you see them doing something, and then you see the results. The hanging bodies was chilling, as was the death by exile, and that last shot of the movie did not leave me satisfied, but wanting more.

Bane put Bruce in the pitt in order to give him a false hope (as I imagine he did not think with a broken back he would escape) in the same way he wanted to give Gotham false hope. In his mind the worst kind of torture. So by removing his legs Bruce would have no hope at all. On another note, the prison clearly reflects the well Bruce falls into as a child in the first film. One of the many motifs that brings the series full circle.

I don't know. Yes, the villain having a bomb thing is cliche I suppose, but I just love how much different Bane was from the Joker. Everything from the way he carried himself to his evil plot. I loved the climax too. Even though I knew that obviously the bomb wasn't going to go off in Gotham, I still felt tense. During sequence I was thinking, Come on! Deal with this fuckin bomb already!!! It's about to blow!" Bane also had some great lines too. Most memorable one was "Once Gotham is ashes, you have my permission to die." Great movie!
