"The Boys" Men in black beating up superheroes. Anyone else loves this?

I love Garth Ennis's work. Got converted by Preacher and I have since progressed onto his latest comic book, The Boys. He claims that this is the comic that will out-preacher Preacher in terms of violence.

Brief overview for those who don't know this one. In this universe, Superheroes are real, they're backed by corporations, they have thier own comics "based" on their lives, and they don't really take responsibility for anything. When Supes f**k up, the Boys move in, either beating to a pulp or killing them depending on the situation. Personal vendettas, crazy bastards, and more violence than the combined works of Tarantino and Ridriguez combined. How can any Ennis fan not love this comic?

So love it, hate it, post your opinion here. Just trying to get a dialogue going on a comic that I like.

this last issue was especially graphic I just started picking it up but already i like it i need to pick up the trades though
It's not bad, I have read most issues, but it's not great, not preacher great. The whole out preacher preacher is just lame, to me, it's like, dude write your stories, be yourself, don't try to out do yourself.

Some complaints I have though are this, Does every (near) superhero have to be a complete and utter asshole, and the good guys be so bad ass and perfect? That book has zero suspence sicne you know the Boys can take any and every hero around. Not only can they take them out, but the heroes are such pricks that they should be taken down.Ennis's weakness is subtey, he has none. Everything is presented so black and white. Although I do like the character of Hughie who doesn't see this seperation.

So it's not a great book, but it isn't stupid either, I'd recommend it to people, but I'd recommend other stuff first
I can understand your complaints. Although your comment about the Boys being able to take any superhero isn't quite true. Part of their problem with the Seven is that they have more brute force than the Boys. The stalemate between them is the Seven can kill them but Butcher can bury them with evidence of their crimes. Also the last issue sets up a confrontation between butcher and Stormfront, the super Nazi allegedly as strong the the big man the Homelander. The Boys can take most pricks out there, but the walking talking supertanks can pose a slightly harder challenge.

Also I think the comic is more of a character driven piece. I read primarily for Little Hughie, Butcher, MM, Frenchie, and the Female. Crazy bastards doing a job and loving it.
