The two religions aren't so different

I understand how some one with very little knowledge on the subject could make that assumption, but a simple examination of the facts show that, that assumption is quite stupid, and stems from some idiotic need people seem to have to appear moderate, or fair.

I really don't see why I need to defend Christianity while criticizing Islam, but since that seems to be the accepted social construct of the day I will oblige you.

Modern Christianity, and Modern Islam are nothing alike. Muhammad was a Warlord, and a political leader. Jesus was a non political spiritual adviser. He had no armies, never attempted to conquer anything, and spent much of his life pretty much just walking around. Jesus spoke out against the religious establishment of his day. Which is why he was sold out, murdered by his own people. Islam clings to the ancient power structures that Jesus fought against. Modern Christianity preaches a personal connection to God, and a personal spiritual life. We don't believe our salvation is dependent on ritual, buildings, or the edicts of supposed Holy men. Obviously there are sects of Christians who's faith relies heavily on that sort of thing, but those rituals are based off of writings from church figures not from Christ. Anyways...

Islam is structure that invades every aspect of the Muslim's life. How many times a day he must pray, how he prays, the direction he points his rug, what his daughter must wear, what he can eat, he must visit holy sites ect... Islam is not simply a philosophy it is a social code, and form of government. The gigantic difference between Christianity, and Islam is Sharia Law. Which is every changing, and constantly growing, because Islam recognizes new prophets still, allah is believed to speak through Imams, and new prophecy is considered more valid than the older prophecy. The Goal of fundamental Islam is establishing a one world totalitarian theocracy ruled by their Caliphate.

Can you give me the modern Christian parallel to Sharia Law?

whats up with america where some white guy sayes something against Muslims and everyone rises up against him. yet some douche bag on hbo regularly speaks hate on all religion( mostly Christianity) and people applaud him? well what ever i guess this guy was just a bit too hill billy looking maybe? cuz last i checked in the ol' dictionary both examples used are considered bigotry.
lastly Muslim is not a race same as christian isnt a race. Yall dont have to deal with The Nation.

I always found it laughable that the defenders of Islam are often the same people that bash Christianity.
