This is probably a better movie than the original. And that will be enough to overcome the problems I experienced, but for me it wasnt enough and I felt really bored throughout. For me, this was an otherwise good movie brought down by a shocking similarity to the movies preceeding it. Less of a reboot and more a remake.

The few differences are interesting. Man made webshooters, Gwen Stacy's policechief father, some mystery regarding Peter's parents. But the rest is something already seen in the other three movies.

The obvious similarities lie with the retelling of an origin story. We all know the story from the comics and so we understand that they have to cover those same beats, for instance Uncle Ben. However they do so in a way that mirrors that first movie just a little too much for my liking. It lead to me sitting there in the theater know exactly where this was going and very bored by it all.

I could forgive those similarities if they ended there. But the movie kept mirroring scenes and ideas from all three of the earlier films. The bridge scene, a conflicted villian with voices in his head, the reveal to the villian of who spiderman was, the people of New York helping out, the American flag in one part.... I could go on and on.

I think this is an Ok spiderman movie for anyone who hasnt seen the other three films but many who have, will find this very underwhelming and repetitive in a season of movies that has brought us Avengers and brings us the Dark Knight Rises.

I can agree with that. As stand alone movies I found this one better than the first one in terms of its portrayal of the character. There is a lot more "character" in this film.

Shame it is preceeded by those other three films and that it decided to mirror so many of the elements from them.

I'm really interested to see where they take this rebooted series.

I gave the film a low Full Price myself.

This is my favorite spidey film
