Does anyone else think that the Lizard is a lame choice for the villain for the Spider-Man reboot? He's just a mindless monster, like Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde. I was expecting someone more threatening. Not that there are a lot of interesting villains in Spider-Man's rogues gallery anyway outside of Doc Ock, Green Goblin, and Venom (which have already been done). I think Kraven would've been pretty interesting.

This reboot is such a blatant cash grab by the studio and completely unnecessary (a reboot after only 5 years? Get some originality hollywood). But I really like Marc Webb and those Sam Raimi movies are way too campy for me (like the 60's Batman tv show). After seeing 500 days of summer I think he'll really nail down the human aspect of  the Spider-Man story, so I am looking forward to this.

So who do you think would be the perfect villain for the Spider-Man reboot? (can't choose one that's already been done).

I think the Lizard is the perfect villain for the Spider-Man reboot. In several incarnations of Spider-Man, the Lizard is one of the earliest villains he fights. Curt Conners is a classic, iconic character to Spider-Man fans, and totally deserves his own movie. Hell, I'd even go as far as saying he's more deserving than Venom was.

Truthfully I don't know a lot about the Lizard outside of those collectible spider-man cards I used to collect as a kid. But he doesn't seem cool enough to me.

I'd like to seem some aerial battles. How about the vulture or Hobgoblin?

They're cool, but not nearly as deserving as Curt Connors. Also, the relationship between Connors, Spider-Man, and Connor's family that make him such a cool villain. Peter is torn between having to stop a dangerous threat to the city and harming his mentor. The Lizard is not an evil person. He is a desperate man who makes a grave mistake in a sort of Jekyll and Hyde fashion, and his friends and family pay the price.

Also, the Lizard isn't mindless. He can talk and reason, but sometimes succumbs to his reptilian instincts. He often tries to use his technology to create a new perfect race of Lizard people or similar schemes.

What you said.
I think they could of used Scorpion the fight scene at the end between the two could of been bad ass
Did you even see the 60s Batman TV show?

Yup. Campy as hell, but I loved it when I was a kid. If I was 10 when I saw Sam Raimi's Spider-Man I probably would've enjoyed it, but it was just way too corny for me. That's why I'm looking forward to the more realistic approach that Marc Webb is doing for the reboot. I hope he does for Spider-Man what Christopher Nolan did for Batman.

I believe the opposite. Spider-Man should not be dark and gritty/realistic. Spider-Man is a fun character. He laughs, he mocks his villains and often seems like he has a good time doing what he does. Not every character needs to be really serious, especially not Spider-Man.

Now, that being said, it's not like I wouldn't like to see a darker Spider-Man film, but that's hard to do without making Peter Parker into an emo twat (Which goes against everything the character is.)

Paul Giamatti has stated that if the Rhino was ever used in a Spider-Man film, he would love to play him.

I would be okay with this.

Hahaha. I second that.

Lizard is perfect for a part one

Scorpion and Rhino are good for part two

or even a side enemy or dual

I always thought scorpion and rhino were second banana villains. Rhino definitely. Scorpion might have some potential if they made him more intelligent and cunning instead of the dumb thug he usually plays.
