If it's crap... We'll tell you

Since cinema is very much oriented on entertainment, only a few movies can really take out those defenses of ours and blow us away. Sometimes, the movie is so powerful that we stay there until the end of the credits wondering if there is something better than this in an emotional matter or, for some cases, fear itself.

What special movie just blew you away leaving you with a feeling that it will scar you forever?

In my case, Memento was this movie that just surprised me so bad that I had to listen to it again the next day to fully understand all the genius of the screenplay :P

Scar me in a good way:

I think that movie is close to what Daniel Palardy felt with Memento.

Scar me in a bad way:

I know its a cheerful musical with wonderful songs that I still listen to but Oliver Reeds' Bill Sikes scared the living crap out of me and I still have nightmares about him, just last night I had a nightmare about him.

For Dark Knight, you're absolutely right :D

Oliver, really?? I know there is some innocent movies that are scary and dreams about them just don't help that fact :P

Yeah it was just the way Oliver Reed did Bill Sikes that just scared me and his abuse and murder to Nancy just sealed the deal. It also didn't helped I watched this when I was 10 and seeing how he can have mood swings like that was just frightening, he goes from being talking softly to screaming for bloody murder in one second!!!!

Watch 3:01 - 3:20 and you'll know what I'm talking about!

For me, my mind was blown away by Apocalypse Now. It was such a well done movie. It has so many great lines as well.
My personal favorites were, "Disneyland? f***, this is better than Disneyland!", "Never get out of the boat", and "We always play music, It scares the s*** out of the slopes!". So many perfectly done scenes as well.

by the way, it's sort of funny that 2001 is a G rated movie.

Really?? Damn, I bet any kid will understand the ending then :P

From what I understand, back in the 60s, the G-rating actually meant "General Audiences". You could even say stuff like "Damn" and "Hell" without getting bumped to PG. Nowadays, G means "Made for kids, nothing in this movie could be possibly seen as offensive."

This film greatly disturbed & shook me the first time I viewed it.

It's a very good film. Certainly the best of Peter Watkins' work.
It's just very difficult to watch. Especially the first time 'round...
