I don't think many are seriously talking succession but the Federal government taking all the power from the states is definitely pissing a lot of people off. The constitution guarantees states' rights and limits Federal government. That isn't what's happening.

I think it is fair to say, if the country keeps going in this direction, pretty much the whole south and midwest will become alienated.

good riddance. I got nothing against texas, but the other 49 states lose almost nothing compared to what texas loses in that deal.

Careful, guys. You're treading some dangerous waters. We're talking about the home to Spill.com. What happens when they secede and George Bush is named President for Life of Texas and he has Korey, Cohost, Carlyle, Leon, and Cyrus executed for not giving his biopic a "Better than Sex" rating?

HA, yeah right. dude, Texas can do whatever the hell it wants and I couldn't care less. If they do secede, we'll have to initiate Puerto Rico into statehood to replace them and not have the Chinese change all our flags.

Um, what do you mean when? We're not going to secede. It's not going to happen. I'm American by birth, Nigerian by blood, Texan by choice. And I'm damn proud of being all three! But I'll be damned if the idiots running things down here allows some bullshit like that to happen. But my better judgment tells me our Governor is just talking out his ass again.

And as for support of Rick Perry: as soon as that guy is done being Governor of Texas, to quote the man, "Adios, mofo!" He's a bigger pain than Bush.

Texas is not allowed to secede, what the governor said was bullshit. Although, Texas is allowed to break up into five different states. but which Texan or American would want that?

Exactly. All Governor Perry ever says is bullshit. I never voted for him, and when my high school class went on a trip to meet him, I snubbed him. Didn't like him then, I don't like him now.

Well, technically no one is allowed to secede, but that doesn't mean they wont do it. It wasn't legal for the Confederacy to secede, but they did it anyway. What secession means is that the state no longer considers themselves a part of the nation.

you have a point, but i was refering to what the governor specifically said. if i remember correctly. governor Perry calimed that when texas became part of the united states, the union said texas would legally be allowed to leave the united states and go back to bieng an independent republic. THAT statement that he said is bullshit.
