If it's crap... We'll tell you

Just saw Terminator Salvation an hour ago thought I'd post a review.

The story is this in a nutshell, Sam Worthington plays a guy named Marcus, he's on death row for some reason( can't remember honestly, killed someone in an accident or on purpose) so a woman comes to him with proposition of donating his body to Cyberdyne. He agrees, after that we jump all the way to 2018 where we see John connor on a rescue attempt with his resistence buddies. He finds some shocking info at the facility where the prisoners are at, Skynet is developing T-800s.
After that the movie falls into John Connor trying to save Kyle Reese(his dad..well he's going to be his dad) from Skynet's clutches along with his new half human half terminator pal Marcus.

Review:
Oh god...when I left the theatre I thought:" Wow that was fucking cool! Explosions! Terminators! Nerdgasm"! Then after a few minutes what I saw began to sink in. Don't get me wrong, TS was not a bad movie by any means. The action sequences and special effects are ungodly awsome. Sam Worthington was fantastic in this movie, you feel for him more than any other character...which is where we come to the problem.

John Connor should have been the main focus, character wise. They sort of split the two in half, somewhat focusing on John, somewhat focusing on Marcus. However.. Christian Bale was so fucking terrible in this movie I didn't give a rat's ass about him. I am fucking tired of Christian Bale playing Batman in every movie he's in.I am fucking tired of that god damn voice.

1. Speak the fuck up! No one can fucking hear you!
2. When you do manage to speak up, say what you need to say LEGIBLY!

Jesus H Christ..half the time I couldn't understand what he said. It was like, after he finished the Dark Knight, he was stuck on that batman voice and couldn't figure out how to talk normal again. Not only that, John Connor was the second most boring character in the whole movie. I didn't care if he lived or died at all, I felt no emotional connection with his character at all. The most boring and unused character was his wife, Kate, playe by Bryce Dallas Howard. This girl was a decent actress here but, she did absolutely nothing! The only reason her character was even in the movie was because she was in the third movie( of which she was played much better by the previous actress..for the life of me I can't remember her name). It seemed like her job in the resistence, was to stand around and look at stuff. She served no real purpose in the movie which was dissapointing because I loved her character in T3.

I'm almost done but, here's another problem I had. For some reason, I don't know if it's just because this movie is coming out soon or what, but all these other non human looking terminators looked like Transformers. The motorcycle terminator things and especially that giant terminator( I think they're called harvesters but I'm calling them giant ass terminators, or GATs for short). Not only did they look like Transformers they even seemed to animate and move similar to the ones in Micheal Bay's movie, which was fucking weird since IGN just released that spoof short: Transforminators. Copy this link to watch it, it's hilarious:

Overall:
This movie is definetly watchable for the action, special effects, and Sam Worthington's performance.
It just suffers from some poor acting and predictable story.

I give it a:
High Matinee

Yep because two movies= his entire movie career.

More like three movies. I'm assuming you've watched Salvation then? He is basically playing Batman without his costume. At first I assumed the Spill crew was overreacting but, it's true. Even before he played batman in Begins he had that gravely voice, it just got worse. Half the time it sounds like he is talking with marbles and razorblades in his mouth.

And please, I don't care if you post comments about my negligence to post everything I meant to say but, consider that I saw this movie: half asleep from sleep deprivation the previous night, after surgery on my right arm, coming to a theatre looking like a half drunk hobo, and then sitting through 2 hours of Christian Bale's acting, give me a fucking break.

"Even before he played batman in Begins he had that gravely voice"

Except not really unless, I'm assuming you haven't seen American Psycho or any of his previous films before he started work on the Batman franchise. Also, unless you had a real shitty theater or your ears need to be checked, I really had no problems hearing Bale speak at all and the voice was nowhere near as bad as the voice he used in TDK.

People need to learn the difference between bad acting and an actor dealing with a shitty script. This is a film where Christian Bale did the best he could with extremely poor writing ( I don't care what actor you use, they'd still sound stupid if they screamed, "DO IT, YOU SON OF A BITCH!!!!")

i think also clint eastwood as well as bale has the problem with having a high pitched voice, and to fit their characters they lower their voice in the best way they can. have not yet seen the movie, but i totally understand why they need to do their voice trick. if you listen to bales voice in movies where he's talking normal you will notice that the voice is very shifting in form of high and low

"in movies where he's talking normal you will notice that the voice is very shifting in form of high and low"

That could be because he has to talk with an American accent.

Oh wow two movies he sounded like that:The dark knight and Terminator. Big deal it was unnecessary for terminator and it wasn't that bad even lol and he doesn't do it in every movie, like 3:10 to Yuma, The Prestige, American Psycho even fkn Rescue Dawn only to name a few. So yea two movies wasn't his whole career ;)

You got it right! The movie is badly written and there are so many small inconsistencies. Good visuals though. There are some points I would like to add/clarify:

The humans get thrown around by machines and nothing happens to them like they are made of rubber. On the other hand the machines are so inefficient in killing people, it makes me think if we are talking about Terminators at all.
The initial idea for the Terminator from the first movies was that they are highly efficient killing machines with detailed knowledge of human anatomy, killing methods and extraordinary physical power, speed and accuracy. It was suggested on many occasions that if one gets into their grasp he/she is practically dead and the only way to survive is to (a)avoid them,(b) stay away from them and (c)set traps or (d)use extraordinary fire power. In T4 they look like weak morons when it comes to handling people.
Furthermore Conner was supposed to be some super strategic thinker that outsmarts the machines by being unpredictable and anticipating Skynet’s moves. His generals were supposed to be young geniuses/ computer geeks etc. (see T3) because the militaries are all extinct. The hints from the previous movies are that humans are almost extinct and the remaining few are organised in a very complicated guerrilla war/underground fight against Skynet. It was suggested that humans live underground in secret bunkers and resurface only to attack the machines or to obtain some resources. It was shown that if one terminator gets to one of these bunkers he could singlehandedly kill everyone there. That is how much power they have.
Instead Conner in T4 is a simple soldier with some creasy status of a profit and the Terminators fight like grandmas and the human are commanded by militaries and have helicopters and submarines.
What happen to all the radiation from the nuclear explosions (The Judgement day). That was one of the main reasons why handful of miraculously survived humans live underground and rarely go to the surface.
And what about the certain "nuclear winter" after the "Judgement day"? There was nothing of a kind in the movie despite the fact that it is certain it will happen if mass nuclear attack ever happens on earth.
The Marcus character was absolutely unnecessary. Skynet does not know who Connor’s father is. That was a blunder on behalf of the writers which now is too late to correct.

Well, the good news is that in Terminator 5 or 6 there is going to be a jump back in time and somehow the "Judgement day" would be prevented/ postponed so T4 will remain as one possible future that has never happened. That will make possible for the fans to enjoy the movie for the great visual effects it has. :)
