If it's crap... We'll tell you

Hello Everyone and Anyone,

Plot holes and poor logic really ruins a movie. But with T.S., I was able to account for everything in the plot using explanations that aren't explicitly given but aren't discounted so far.

The format of this post is a plot hole is given then a potential explanation and then the explanation of the explanation.

Please leave comments and I have ideas for the next installment let me know if you all want that posted.

# 1

Kyle Reese is Jon Connor's Father yet born in the Future.

Kyle Reese (KR) was Originally sent back by a man named Jon Connor (JC) but was not his son.

Original JC sends his best man, KR, into the past to protect his mother without the knowledge that he will get his mother pregnant. This in addition to telling her how her only son will be named Jon and save humanity and the physical evidence of the Terminator causes her to raise her son with this in mind for his future.

# 2

Marcus Wright is more advanced than the T - 800, but was made by cyberdine pre-Skynet

Skynet is not completely in control of all the pre-WAR resources of Cyberdine, as you might imagine after Nuclear Warfare. Much of the Research and Development for Skynet's Arsenal was already done, but access was limited and incomplete ie Time Travel.

Marcus was complete but not online during the war and more sophisticated than Skynet could make. But with this one model it imparts a mission.

# 3

The HK does not destroy Marcus in the Tow Truck only prevents his escape.

At some point he is identified by the HK and obviously Skynets has given the order not to terminate him.

# 4

Kyle Reese is not immediately killed by Skynet once he is identified in a plan to lure Jon Connor in, even though killing Kyle would have the same outcome.

Skynet does not know Time Travel is a possibility see # 2 and only knows Jon is its main adversary in the present and the guy on the radio who has likely mentioned he is searching for Kyle Reese. Even when Skynet learns Jon Connor's father's name when Marcus plugs in this is illogical and assumes this is another Kyle Reese there were 6 billion humans. Why would it send a Terminator in the past to kill Sara Connor knowing the man sent to protect her would be his father?

# 5

Marcus Wright does not kill Jon Connor the moment he identifies him.

Skynet does not control Marcus Wright, nor does he broadcast only record. Broadcasting would give him away and any interference by the CPU would ruin his belief he is human.

# 6

The T - 800 in TS is not as ruthless as the one The Terminator but instead throws Jon Connor around instead of crushing his windpipe.

Skynet is Fucking Bat Shit Crazy.

Unlike the Terminators in the past Skynet does not have a connection to them. Skynet, having an artifiial intelligence, acts vicariously through the Terminator and relishes the Kill of its greatest adversary.

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate you taking the time to read it. If the # 4 plot hole isn't filled in by this explanation or another one. I won't go see the next one.

But there is a plot hole then, cause how does skynet know that Jon Conner's Dad is Kyle cause then why would they try to kill him sorry I feal theres something i don't get and I would appreite if you could explain it

Oh this was a great post and you definately made some valid comments

The answer is what is explicitly said vs what is suggested. In this movie, Jon does not say Kyle's name on the radio, but it doesn't say he hasn't and even suggests he has when Jon says something like "I hope he's listening this time." Kyle never hears his name because the radio was broke until Marcus fixes it.

And when Ironside's character gives him the news about Kyle's name being among the 3, I think its suggested that they don't know why? Its going to sound just as crazy to suggest time travel now as it was back then. The commands reaction to Kyle's name being added does not suggest they know the peril Jon is in.

Now Skynet on the other hand has heard the name and believes someone named KC is important to Jon but doesn't why he is. Skynet could assume any number of things, a relative, a field commander, a technician, even a son.

But what it does know is Jon is Nuclear Winter's George Washington, William Wallace, and Spartacus all rolled into one. His intel on Skynet is superhuman. Kill Jon and anything connected to him ie this Kyle Reese who ever he is.

Assume that Skynet does not know about the possibility of Time Travel, because the only time its explicitly said is to Marcus when hes tied up . But this information is only made available once Marcus up loads into Skynet. By that time Skynet is trying to kill them all.

Here's the plot hole that really bugged me in this movie. The reason Jon Connor is the terminators primary target in the first 3 movies is because he leads the resistance to victory, so skynet sends terminators back in time to rewrite their time. However the skynet of 2018 has not lost the war yet, and do not yet have time travel compatibilities, so there's no way they could know that Jon Connor will play the key roll in their defeat. And even if they are just big fans of radio and see that Jon Connor is something of a rallying point for the surviving humans, there is still no reason that Kyle Reese, who is at this time not even a full fledged member of the resistance, is the machines Primary target. They can not know that Reese is Jons father and it is unlikely that they would prioritize the death of a platoon leader over, say, the current resistance command. Yet these two are the primary and secondary targets, they operate as if they have knowledge of events that have yet to transpire.

Yes but they would have records of what happened in the past aka 80's and could determine that Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor were involved in incidents surrounding the circumstances etc etc etc. Although they didnt explain this it is feasible through due process, and the facial recognition scene that they can be forgiven for this.
What I want to know is why was Marcus american for the first half of the film and then Aussie for the second?

I've got your answers.

Kyle is born post internet, ie Face book, My spaces. Because Judgment day is pushed back, not sure on the time line. Or Marcus uploads when that Flying disk scans them. Kyle Reese gave his name to Marcus.

Sarah and Kyle fought the first terminator in the 80s very little to no digital records. Also the Terminator returned with all that Skynet knew and didn't know what Sarah looked like or where she exactly lived. Kyle said that much of the information was lost post Judgment day. When Skynet went on line it probably grabbed a lot but not all digital records but hard files like those from the 80s gone forever.

You're making the mistake of making war out to be Chess. In Chess, the important pieces are known, their locations are known, what each piece is capable of is known, their movements are known. War is like playing chess without knowing how big the board is, how many pieces the opponent has, what all their pieces are capable of, where are they, what their doing, and having one or two people tell you "some guy told another guy that maybe the knight moved here.

Skynet doesn't care what the humans chain of command is. Jon is the one who seems to have impossibly good intel and is mentioned all the time by scattered humanity. Skynet regards Jon as the largest threat because of his results. Kyle is an unknown, but important to Jon. If JC is greater then command, and KR is important to JC, then KR is more important then command. Thinking like a machine, formula.

Also you're assigning this "Machine Army" characteristics of a "Droid Army" in that they receive orders that filter down, a list. This priority list is not for the Machine Army, Skynet is employing Psychological Warfare to threaten Jon. Lists are a convention of a human army, ie Deck of Cards, Iraq War. The way this Machine army is manufactured suggests this to me. The T-600s were designed pre-war when they'd presumable fight for humans against humans and therefor they were designed to operate weapons and vehicles designed to be operated by humans. Post-war there is none of this business of Machines having heads or terminators driving vehicles, if their is a vehicle it is self contained, bikes and HKs. The list is a calling out Jon.

I came to the conclusion that Skynet knows what they do about John and Kyle due to the events of Terminator 3. That female Terminator must of uploaded information from the future about them. However you would also think they would upload base locations and all that crap too if that were the case...but that's what I'm going with.

In the few books ive read Skynet is aware of changes to the time stream. But The poster is right it does not know yet. because it hasnt lost the war yet. There is still no explination for kyle being on the list.

I expand the idea of why he's on the list more in my reply to Benj question. I fully admit these could all turn out to be untrue in the sequels. But by seeing non-explicit explanations in the movie, for now at least. I've made the movie better for myself and can enjoy it immensely more.
