If it's crap... We'll tell you

Gojira Boy

TEN OVERLOOKED MOVIES YOU LOVE, THAT NOBODY SEEMS TO KNOW ABOUT!

Got to thinking after replying to Imitation Crab's "Flicks that are Popular & Disliked" Forum,
What about those movies You ABSOLUTELY LOVE that NOBODY seems to have heard of?
I wanted you to share your lists, so I can learn of a cool film I'd NEVER heard of, to go check out!

OverLooked: These are picks, where I don't know if anyone's HEARD of them, but I LOVE them!

1) "Four Friends" Arthur Penn's moving tale of Unrequited Love as 4 friends live thru the turbulent
60's & 70's. ( stars Craig Wasson as "Danilo" & Jodi Thelen as his beloved "Georgia" )

2) "Fresh" Boaz Yakin's Powerful debut: about a young boy caught in a violent inner city world of
guns & drugs. ( stars Sean Nelson, Giancarlo Esposito, & Samuel L. Jackson )

3) "Kikujiro" Takeshi Kitano best known for violent fare; this poignant film reflects a softer side to
"Beat" Takeshi. ( Ex yakuza thug takes a neighbor boy on a trip to see the boy's mother ).

4) "The Bird People of China" Violent auteur Takashi Miike ("Audition"), displays a surprising softer
side as well. (salaryman & yakuza go to China to find Jade, but find something Much more).

5) "State of Grace" Phil Janou's Powerful film of friendship & betrayal in NY Hell's Kitchen
ASTOUNDING Acting by the leads (stars Sean Penn, Gary Oldman , & Ed Harris).

6) "Sorcerer" I know "Wages of Fear" was 1st, but MUCH prefer this William Friedkin Nail-Biter
4 down n out guys desperate 4 money, risk their lives in the jungle ( stars Roy Scheider ).

7) "Red Belt" David Mamet (known 4 vulgar mis-direction) tale of a Martial Artist who embodies
Honor & Humility, and won't bend to make a quick buck ( Chiwetel Ejiofor & Randy Couture ).

8) "The Wanderers" dir.Philip Kaufman: NY 1963, is the setting for troubled teen life in rival gangs,
squaring off! "Beware the Ducky Boys!" ( Ken Olin & Karen Allen).

9) "Streets of Fire" dir.Walter Hill's "Rock n Roll Fable" (Musical Noir), a "Guys" film, S.o.F. returns
to town to rescue his kidnapped Rockstar girlfriend (Michael Paré, Willem Dafoe, Diane Lane).

10) "Tae Guk Gi" (Korea) probably the greatest war film you never heard of.. (Korean War)
Tied with "The Four days of Naples" ( Italy/ WWII ) 2nd greatest war film you never heard of.

If you've heard of ALL of these, please share some movies you LOVE that nobody's ever heard of!

Thanks!

King of the Lost World is really Bad, just a heads up. I like it cus it's so unbelievably awful, and blatantly rips off movies and tv shows without mercy.

i have had the pleasure of seeing howard marks at one his book readings and cant wait for this movie, it will give me a chance to show some of the 'wont read' retards i work with who he was and what he accomplished before his 7 year stretch, Ifans was always going to play him but nice to see thewlis on screen again, i would recommend to all reading 'senior nice' his follow up book telling of what he has been doing since the end of mr nice and believe me this man knows how to have an adventure

Hey, Raoul, thanks for this info on Howard Marks. Are the 2 books "Mr. Nice" & "Senior ( Señor?) Nice"?

The Final Cut (2004): Robin Williams plays an editor in a future world where your memories are recorded via a chip in your brain. When you die, Robin Williams' character edits all that footage down into a memorial video for your funeral.

American Splendor: Based on the graphic novel based on a real guy, Paul Giamatti plays Harvey Pekar, a hapless filing clerk from Cleavland who translates his real life into comic form. Harvey Pekar also appears as himself to provide narration and his own commentary on his life.

The Ice Harvest: John Cusack and Billy Bob Thorton star in a bank heist that gets messy. The heist itself goes fine and the cops are off their backs, but there are other elements going on that turn the plan to skip town into one big mess. Very noirish, very violent, but above all, very funny.

Broken Flowers: Bill Murray is on a quest to find the mother of his son he hasn't met yet. Not 'ha ha' funny, but has some very memorable moments and a great soundtrack.

The Squid and the Whale: An f-ed up family going through divorce goes through many awkward situations.
