Lord Tzeentch, you should definitely try to read Geoff Johns' run on Action Comics and Kingdom Come. Those two alone made Superman one of the most interesting characters I read lately. Even if you're not a fan of Superman, these stories will most likely be very entertaining.

Also, Superman HAS to hold back at times. If you want a Superman that lets loose, all you have to look at is Superboy Prime from Infinite Crisis. He forgets to hold back and what happens? He ends up murdering a bunch of Teen Titans and goes insane/evil. If Superman doesn't have full control of himself at all times then something seriously wrong could happen and people could die. However, Superman often finds himself fighting against threats bigger than him. Recently, he couldn't even beat Atlas and Krypto had to save him. Doomsday was killed by 20+ Kryptonians, so when he comes back Superman will be fucked. Superman often is the turn to guy in the huge cross over events where he's on the brink of death by the end of it.

Magic. People who hit harder than him. People who can figure out his identity and use his friends and Lois against him.

Oh, and mind control. He beat Batman to near death thanks to mind control.

You have to admit that is a stupid weakness sort of like Green Lantern being Defeat able by wood and the color yellow

Nah because Kryptons sun was red so it was a lot weaker than a yellow sun and Supermans source of power is his cells absorbing solar energy.

There is a place in the world for superman, but it's in the fifties. I want the man of steel to be the greatest again but we need to forget about his history and remake him in today's image of a flawed character with a real job. Another problem is that they put him in a fantasy world so he can't respond to the real world like Marvel heroes can and that puts up another barrier between him and us. So I say we remake him not a reboot not a retelling, but give him a new slate get rid of Lex and Darksied and give him whole new villains. Get rid of Lois and jimmy and make him fall for someone else (just a thought lets put the hate thing on him and make him like some guy). Stop calling him Kal and make him the boy from Iowa again and give him a reason to fight not just that he likes helping have them kill the woman (or man, like I said) he loves and give him a vengeance motive. He also needs a new costume screw spandex (that goes for all superheroes) put him in Jeans and boots with an armored chest. Lets also tone down the powers and increase vulnerability
