Superman died and even that couldn't save him. He's washed up. Superman returns sucked like a Hoover. Every movie has Lex Luthor ( is that misspelled?) he doesn't do shit. Superman has all these powers but no one to use them on. He has no villain to just wail on for two comics then come back to do it again. Doomsday's OK but not that interesting.
The Christopher Reeves movies did well because no one made any other heroes we have mavel with spider-man, Iron Man, and The avengers. We all know DC has a mush better hero to look up to.

I actually think Routh has the potential to be the new face for the hero, despite every one being nostalgic over Reeve's Superman. He knows how the character should be, and said in interviews how he sees Superman as a character. To me, Brandon Routh is the new Superman, and I beseech Warner Bros. to make him the Man of Steel, not Tom Welling; Geoff Johns should write the screenplay and get a new director.
By the way, I think they can end the whole Donner-esque movies now, and start from scratch. A good way to keep from having to tell the same origin story is to do the movie a la` The Incredible Hulk or Batman. Montages of Superman's origins and just jump right into the action. Lex should be similar to who he was in the Timmverse animated series, since that interpretation of him is the best in my opinion. Oh, and recast Lois Lane. I think Rachel McAdams would be great.
i agree

it seems like supe and his movies are mis-matched
i mean, he's a action superhero
and they have his movies mostly(and i mean MOSTLY)
story-filled
and thats just bass-ackwards
now that i think about it
i think superman was good for a couple of decades
because he was someone2 americans could read and love during the wars and happenings going on
they were all like,"yeah! we need a hero!!"
so it was written and rewritten for prosperity to relate, but now there are so many better heroes and
there are so many more to relate to, like batman being human and spiderman being a geeky nerd
superman a frigging alien
as a matter of fact he's the only hero to be in a top 20 list that is an alien
who-the-f*ck can relate to an alien?
What does being an alien have to do with anything? He looks human. He acts just like a human, albeit a very moral and intelligent one, due in great part to being raised his whole life by two tremendous human beings. The only thing about him that a normal person couldn't relate to would be his power. Guess what. That puts him in the very same class as Spider-Man.
Lots of people can relate to being an alien. Immigrating cultures who have come to America and have changed it for the better is the definition of Superman. Guidance. Understanding even when they are the minority. Read Geoff Johns/Gary Frank's run on Action comics when he teams up with the Legion of Superheroes, it's a subtext about racial inequality.
