Superman died and even that couldn't save him. He's washed up. Superman returns sucked like a Hoover. Every movie has Lex Luthor ( is that misspelled?) he doesn't do shit. Superman has all these powers but no one to use them on. He has no villain to just wail on for two comics then come back to do it again. Doomsday's OK but not that interesting.
The Christopher Reeves movies did well because no one made any other heroes we have mavel with spider-man, Iron Man, and The avengers. We all know DC has a mush better hero to look up to.
well what should be done then with the character? i want to see him done justice on screen. but i'm sick and tired of you have to make him darker shyte or that he's not complex, or that he's too nice. I've always hated that. i hate how we bash him for being so nice. it's kinda a shot at as in the sense that the most decent kind and moral character in the dc universe is more human than we are. we can't relate to someone who is trying to be the best person they can possibly be?
It gives people comfort when they see flaws, as we can relate to people by flaws. Superman is meant to be perfect, giving him a illegitimate child in Superman Returns means we gave his perfection a flaw and people are not used to that. Superman is hard to put on the big screen because as said he is so perfect and it's hard to connect with the character...... just ignore my ramble.....
Anyway, if Batman didn't have Alfred he wouldn't be able to cook for himself and all his clothes would be dirty, Alfred is Batman's kryptonite.
My current favorite Superman storyline pits him against a dude called Manchester Black and his version of the justice league he called the elite:
That's about half of them. I couldn't find the other half, so there.
The elite were operating in the style of the Punisher, killing any offenders for any offense. Supes frowned on this, and challenged them openly. They fight, him versus the lot of them all at once, in a place where there would be no possible civilian casualties. I ain't gonna spoil nothing, but the fight truly amazed me and the story wasn't half bad. It's a shame it was in another series (I want to say Justice League Elite, but I'm not entirely sure) but it's impressive none the less.
You'll have to forgive me, I do all of my reading out of the library and from borrows. So it's rare that I remember the title, let alone the author and artist.
Superman was one of the reasons why I stood away from Comic Books and read Manga instead. (Back then).
(The reason why is I thought every comic book was going to be like a Superman clone. That was back then. Now, I give comic books a chance....Kind of.)
Maybe your reasons of Superman are different then mine, but I hands down don't like that character. I don't hate him, but I don't like him.
He's almost everything what I don't like about comic books (Back then). A character with (kind of) god like powers, waaaaay to heroic, wears tights (And not in a decent level ), and stories I really didn't care.
The Superman:TAS does kick-ass, but I still don't like the character.
I have no reason to care about this character. If he lose, he will win in the next round. If he dies, he will come back.
So, what's the point?
I respect the series for what it is, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
Unless, you have any reasons why Superman is a good character and all.
(Like I said, I don't hate the character, I just don't like him.)
The fact that superman is godlike is one of the best aspects of the character. he's not a character like spiderman or batman who is a man more or less. superman is a symbol, of hope, decency, good, and compassion. he's the gold standard of what we should strive to be. he's a challenge to all the other characters. yes you can let your life be swayed by all the negativity out there. or you can shake it off and not let it get the best of you. he's not some guy we need to resonate with he's somebody we want to be like. superman has lost just as much as other characters. his biological parents, his foster parents, friends, loved ones, yet he attempts to stay positive. and his disposition is of one who tries to put all the weight on his shoulders but still he doesn't give in. he's like that to a fault. superman has plenty of flaws, just not the ones we associate as such. he's not a brooding vigilante teetering with sanity or some radioactive geek who can't always pay the rent and makes horrendous relationship decisions. superman is flawed because he tries to always be there and do good. he tries to be everywhere at once and he simply cannot. for every 100 lives he saves, they account to nothing in his mind for the ones he wasn't able to. thats what makes him a great hero. he's a man trying to be more than his limits.
okay to start i'm already a fan of Repo! The Genetic Opera. it's my second favorite movie right after Ginger Snaps. So i already know that Repo Men is Bullsh*t to me, a pure Rip off of an original and stunning film (even thought the concept is borro…
