Dr Samantha Stone "The Blue Diamond"

Origins;
While working in a remote South African diamond mine, the geologist Dr Stone predictions are confirmed in discovering a rare blue diamond vein. Despite her colleagues disbelief that her calculations were correct, Dr Stone believes there is another located south of the discovery. She takes a small team into the politically hostile area to survey and sample the site. The soil results are positive and the over confident Doctor over sees the excavation of the site, whilst further tests are conducted in the Northern lab. There it is discovered unexplainable toxic impurities in the soil have possibly damaged/altered the properties of the diamonds and Dr Stone is ordered to evacuate and abandon the site. She refuses and personally oversees the final 100 tons of earth removal. The as the machinery breaks into the air pocket surrounding the diamond vein, it explodes. The a terrible accident kills everyone in the vicinity, Dr Stone however is barely alive, with the force of the explosion the vein has been destroyed. She is unconscious for several hours and breaths in the fine powered diamond dust as it settles before the northern team arrives to discover her. She is flown to intensive care unit in the Royal Sydney Hospital, to be close to family. After two weeks of being in a coma she wakes up, and makes a slow recovery. She begins to notice however strange scab formations across her body, and as it begins to ravage her body Dr Stone flees the hospital and goes in to exile, where she is transformed in more ways than one....

Origins: Legend, this dude named legend, has it that the last dragon on earth came to him and with his last breath coughed up a flaming loogie that landed on said hand. Rather than harming his hand, something in his genes harnessed the dragon's flame. Thus the torch barer was born.

ORIGINS: In a world where superheroes are common, the police force has become obsolete, and the heroes take over, saving the day as a full time job with salary. All they have to do is register with the government, and go through certain tests. Mike (Yes, that's my REAL name) is a college student, getting by by working at a crappy restaurant and donating various bodily fluids. He gets the idea to register as Captain Funk: The People's Hero. Though originally thought to be a joke, the government brings Funk in for interrogation. The Cap'n convinces the feds to let him work as a hero of petty offenses, such as littering, public indecency, and hippies. Now and then he helps take down big-time villains, but usually by accident.
