Spawn Movie Reboot/Sequel
So apparently a lot of people didn't like the Spawn movie a couple of years ago. I really liked it but I think it could have been better, so I've been looking forward to this reboot.
Spawn is one of if not THE darkest and most badass comic book hero out there. There is a lot of potential here.
The project code name has been known on the internet as Spawn 2, so that's why I'm not sure if it's a reboot like the Hulk or Batman Begins where everyone pretends the first one never happened, or just a regular sequel. I'd be happy either way.
Anyway- though I've been hearing rumors about this movie for years, this project has not left footprints anywhere. There is no script, no director, nothing. Is it ever going to happen?

i really care about this i though the first was ok but it seamed like they tryed and missed the target.spawn is on of my favouit comic books i only hope they do this and give it the time and hard work it deserves.

when i first watched it I must have been like 12 years old or something. So I thought it was amazing, and the nostalgia factor has really stuck with me. The character design was really spot on in my opinion which was enough to fool my twelve year old brain, but after rewatching it recently, I found many many flaws. The CG when they're in hell for example... Oh my god, it's so bad. and some of the dialogue is really poor too. even th eplot is somewhat empty.
Another thing I thought was really good was the casting. Michael Jai white was a great Spawn, and John Leguizamo's violator I thought was sweet. after reading the comics though I really feel like they smoothed down a lot of pointed edges to make this a safe PG13 movie, and it suffered and felt very main stream as a result. I think if it would go out on more of a limb, and be that badass raw Hell spawn that you see in the comics, and even in the HBO cartoon, then it could be something great.

I think Spawn needs a total reboot, and I don't mean some PG-13 rated crap like the first movie. It should be brutal and violent like the animated series that ran on HBO.

EDIT: don't wanna diss Spawn, for fear of Chig Champa beating me over the head about it (like he usually does), but, to me, he seems a little like a Punisher wannabe. sorry.
Plus, the movie SUCKED! The CGI quality was like that of an early Windows computer screensaver, and the human villain was a douche bag. Oh, and DENZEL WASHINGTON IS NO SPAWN!!!! They should've cast someone else who'd fit!
Still, i kinda like Spawn, but that movie... it's worse than Batman and Robin

Isn't the Punisher like... a vigilanty who is out for justice or something after his family is killed? I thought he was a batman ripoff except that he uses guns and torture and stuff. I don't see the connection to Spawn, though. Spawn delves into the supernatural, he has like...powers, and isn't really fighting for justice or to stop crime or anything, it's more vested just for his own interest, to get his life back and stuff. I think you are confusing this series with something else.

Right, as I mentioned above, it was Michael Jai White. The same guy from the beginning of Dark Knight, in the pencil trick scene.
