Slow Motion
After seeing the BAD MOVIE known as Sucker Punch, I've been thinking of movies that have actually used Slow mo to GOOD effect, for example:
Inception: Probably one of my top 10 because of the slow mo. When I saw it at first, I though Nolan was losing his nut because of it; however, when it was executed in a clever fasion in showing that one dream is slower than the next, it actually came off as necessesary than just for show.
The Matrix: The infamous slow mo scene was really good not only because major audiences have not seen it before, but also because of how it was used. When Neo was in slow motion, it showed that he is able to see things in the Mr. Smith persepective, proving further that he could be Jesu . . . I mean Superm . . . I mean The One.
Sherlock Holmes: Not only one of my favorite movies last year but also possibly my favorite Sherlock Holmes movie out of the few I've seen. The slow motion was clever in that film because it showed how much smarter Sherlock was. It showed that he was smart enough to know where to hit before he did it, making the slow mo not only innovative but also kind of smart as well.
Legend of the Guardians: Probably the best recent Zack Snyder film because it was where he used his constant slow motion the best. Slow motion action sequenced should be used for animals like Owls because it will be so messy with blood, and feathers, it would be impossible to see what is happening without it.
Now I will ask my fellow spillios; where have you seen slow motion used to its greatest extent? Or for another question, how would you use Slow motion if you were forced to use it?

I second this opinion.
Visually the movie is brilliant and the action sequences were great, what let Sucker Punch down was its screenplay and plot... Also the acting was pretty dire in spots.

I hate the Matrix and I think the slow motion has been imitated so many times it just looks like shit now. But if you guys dig it whatever.
I'll be the minority here, Watchmen worked for me with slow mo. But the beginning of Raging Bull is my favorite.
Love Watchmen by the way, got the special edition and watched it SO MANY TIMES. Fuck, im going to go watch it again.

I totally agree with your Watchmen comment, Slow Motion is kinda Zack Snyder's specialty, i mean the slow motion in 300 is also pretty great.
I've heard quite a lot of complaints from fans of the original Watchmen comics,but for me personally it was one of my favorite releases of 2009.

Drive had many scenes which made good use of slow motion with and without music, [SPOILER] elevator/thug/motel scene were great.

Source Code uses its slow-motion to good effect, it balances well with the story. And it wasn't overused.

I loved the slow mo scene at the end of V for vendetta. Though I'm sure a lot of people hate that movie, I love it. It's a great powerful, and sad movie. And that line that V gives to Creedy before he kills him, "Beneath this mask there is more than flesh, beneath this mask there is an idea Mr.Creddy. And, ideas are bullet proof."
I love that line.

The scene in Taxi Driver where Travis focuses on Betsy walking down the street comes to mind. It really helps show that angelic quality that Travis is picturing her having.
