I was anticipating it but the reviews were just so damn bad I got really worried. But after seeing it in the theater, I think that the movie was just misunderstood.

It doesn't aim to be the next Sin City which people apparently where thinking, it's a lighter, comic film that doesn't take itself seriously at all. Frank Miller didn't really do much however, besides write some very funny lines. The movie was straight forward as can be, and nothing really to marvel at but is is actually very funny. Scarlet Johanson's character [ Silken Floss ] is basically wasted, and Gabriel Macht [ The Spirit ] didn't really stand out much either. All Eva Mendes [ Sand Saref ] did was look hot and give the biggest reason why this film needed to be rated R. Samuel L. Jackson's character, The Octopus really saved the movie. He put so much life into an otherwise average film. I'm not sure why his last line "motherfucker" [ It's Samuel L. Jackson, what else can he say? ] was cut off at the end of the movie, but nevertheless the guy really made the movie better.

The Spirit is more comedy than anything else really. Frank Miller created a comic book movie that wasn't serious, something that hasn't ever been completely pulled off before. The only other attempts have been the two Fantastic Four films, which tried to mix being serious and not being serious and when they tried to mix the two together, the result wasn't very pretty. They were fun though. Anyways don't let all the negative WOM prevent you from seeing this film, I think if you go into the film with the right mindset you can't really be disappointed.

B-
ewwww.... i think that movie made my life shorter
(you would have to look at my review on my of you wanted the true reasoning)
