Permalink Reply by Thanagarian Snare Beast on June 13, 2012 at 10:45am First of the new DCU Animated films that I can call legitimately great. The others were fun action-y superhero cartoons, but this one is something I can honestly say that with a better budget could have been an in-theatres feature. The VA's did a great job, the script by Joe Kelly (Author of the Action Comics one-shot this is based off, by the way) was clever and full of character, the animation was fluid, and the philosophy was well presented and surprisingly mature. It does disappointing me somewhat that they didnt go all-out and have a complete Superman TAS/DCAU reunion instead of just Newbern and a cameo by David Kaufman (though honestly, I'd be happy if they just got Delaney back as Lois), I felt the soundtrack could have been a bit more creative, and the art style seemed inappropriately "kiddy" for such a mature feature and I feel something more similar to JL: Doom or Young Justice (blech) would have been a better fit.

Permalink Reply by NeonKazma on June 13, 2012 at 2:31pm I always wondered why not release DC Animated movies in theaters instead to direct to DVD.
Permalink Reply by Thanagarian Snare Beast on June 13, 2012 at 2:40pm Cause they have nowhere near a feature-length budget or interest enough to gather an audience?
Permalink Reply by Jimmy Bananers on June 13, 2012 at 4:28pm I remember when I was a kid going to see animated batman movies but commercially yeah they probably did poorly.
Permalink Reply by Jimmy Bananers on June 13, 2012 at 5:17pm "going to see animated batman movies" should have been "going to see an animated batman movie"
That's exactly the movie I remember. Looking at the IMDB page it actually has a positive review. For nostalgia alone it may be worth watching again.
Permalink Reply by Dr. Rufus on June 13, 2012 at 5:21pm Senna- I never knew I could be a racing fan. Senna has a great story with visuals to match; the first person racing scenes really had me on the edge of my seat. It turns out that a few minutes of mounted camera footage from the late '80s is more exciting than all of the "Fast and the Furious" movies combined. Highly recommended to anyone who can get behind a good sports movie.
