I surprised to see little to no discussion about it. The film will be filmed mostly in Texas by an Austin based studio. The spill crew should be able to get some inside info on this one. Rodriguez's old script has been updated for this reboot of the franchise set on a Predator inhabited planet. I'm a fan of the series and happy to get another Predator movie. I thought the last AVP movie had sunk the franchise for good.
I'm really hoping Fox won't ruin it this time. Their recent history of low quality and the short timeframe worry me. It's supposed to be out reasonable early next year and they haven't even begun filming yet.
I'm with you there, when movies (especially big name ones) plop down an opening date before the filming even starts it always makes me scratch my head, I mean really, what happens if something causes massive delays? Are they going to rush to get the film out? Especially if it has a big competitor? I'll be crossing my fingers, toes and anything else I can for this one.
