When it comes to computerized 3-D animation, the two movie production companies that stand out are Pixar Studios and DreamWorks Studios.

Which animation company, Pixar or Dreamworks, is the best?

Pixar! No question.
You are totally right on the Shrek views. Still have to give Shrek 4 the benifit of the doubt. A Ratatouille 2 would be interesting.
Pixar because have they had a sucky movie yet? yeah i don't think so (tough cars wasn't the best but still better than most of dreamworks movies.)
That little lamp can shove that fishing pole up that kid's ass any day.

Dreamworks: While EXTREMELY profitable with the Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon, Dreamworks is mostly hit or miss. With the said above being hits (with the exception of Shrek 3 & 4, and maybe Madagascar 2) and most others being misses (Shark Tale, Shrek the Third, etc.)

Pixar: Always, hit and hit after hit after hit. Pixar, is rolling in the dough. With Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and Up being their top 3 most successful franchises, it's no wonder why they rein supreme in the animation market. They don't need pop culture references to draw in audiences unlike others...
They tell stories in ways live-action movies can't! They always follow through in a story and never stop to amaze me or anyone else.

Dreamworks: While they bring in money, not great at keeping up with...
Pixar: The Clear Winner.

Both companies have made some incredibly memorable films but Pixar has managed to make good sequels to films and they know when to stop a franchise. Did you know that Dreamworks are making a puss in boots movie? How about Madagascar two? and do we really forgive them for the last Shrek film?
I personally enjoyed Dreamworks more then Pixar so i would say Dreamwokrs. Kung fu Panda is still my favourite animated movie followed by lion king and shrek 2.
Pixar. Next question please.
I like both animation companies but Pixar is the best.
