I agree with you on that one. My Uncle served as a Helicopter door-gunner in Vietnam, and I can't get him to tell me one "action" he took place in, but when I can get him to talk at ALL about Vietnam, it's about the scenery and the mountains and jungles and coastlines and being "back at base" and his return home after his tour of duty.
Most Vietnam vets, don't talk about the "Conflicts" between forces. The constant fear of ambushes, the loss of friends, or even the "better days". Whenever I hear vets talking, they simply name a place-year, and that says it all for the ones there. When they talk about things, it's how the landscape or heat or almost anything BUT the actual fighting.
Yes, your right MDS. I will say majority of all stories told to me were about the the bugs and heat as well as weather, but not all of them. Every vet is different so we can't just assume that there isn't a vet out there that will talk about conflicts. Obviously it was an emotional moment whenever I've heard the few stories of death and war from my family members, so I appreciated the fact of them tapping into their darkest moments to share why they feel so strongly about certain situations going on now.
Rootman, you are lying.and thats unbelievably disrespectful. I believe MDS and Chig pretty much told you so I'll leave, they can berate far better than me anyway.
However, the disrespect of soldiers is one thing I cannot stand so I'll correct you:
The Vietnam war was Americans war alone, some might argue that Vietnam lost more but the fact remains it is an American war. Britain nor France or Australia had no part in the fighting there at all did they? FUCKING WRONG!!! The British and Australian SAS served quite extensively with American Special Forces in Cambodia and laos during the war and the French were there long before America took up their noble cause.
Anyway, were are not arguing about the Vietnam war here and I suspect that's why you chimed in, you insulted me to bait me and made an open statement to spark conversation. Anyway, you are wrong, you don't know enough about the Vietnam war (only what I suspect you learn from Wikipedia) and you have be rumbled so just jog on.
I'm not here to try to prove to you the facts of what I know and have experienced. I never said what my relatives talk about when they have spoken about serving in vietnam, so to think that I was only talking about the action was just speculation on your parts. There's no possible way you could truly know if I'm lying about this or not. I have no disrespect for soldiers at all, but I figure you were pretty pumped up to correct me so I don't judge you.
Where I have to correct you though is that maybe you didn't want this to be an argument on Vietnam but it turned into that by what I read, so get over that your weak ass thread about half nude pictures.
I'm twenty two years old so you don't have to wonder anymore, nor use that as a case for wankerism. Unless you still want to, then by all means.
