I liked it, but I wasn't at all scared. I'd say overrated. High Rental.

they couldn't just leave the house to get it over with. it's a main plot point. it's a demon, so moving won't make a difference.
but yes it is a tad overrated.

Is it really that bad? I've heard almost nothing but negative things about it. Seems that it's mostly like Ghost Hunters and those type shows.

Well this kinda film is something that caters to somebody like me. I love getting wrapped up and freaked out, but instead I was sitting there through every beat wondering when I was going to atleast get tense. I didn't like the acting, I didn't like the characters (the only person I was mildly convinced by was the Psychic), and I expected each situation to escalate; instead I was left with nothing.

Also, I went into the film not knowing what was going to happen at all.

The Blair With Project basically had nothing happening, but surprisingly the tension built on me with that. It's very hard to describe how I feel because not seeing anything is practically the point of Paranormal Activity, it's all about what you hear, and what I heard just failed to execute; it was just corny.

I say if you're curious, you may aswell check it out. Right now I consider myself the minority with my opinion considering the hype.

I think for me the reason the film fell a bit flat was the characters and the sheer length of time they were simply dicking around. Mikal in particular screamed MORON! to me. Plus even after some rather glaring evidence that BAD SHIT was happening, they overtalked it to death and mopped...while doing NOTHING. Dialogue was rather poor and I never felt any tension save during the night shots. With all that time spent during the day sections, it seemed to suck that tension right out.

Blair Witch at least kept building the pressure and the characters really felt like they were slowing losing it as whatever was out there was closing in...and there was no escape....no way out.....it was GOING to get them....and do something horrible.
