Because movies are open to debate and discussion. Instead of outright denying me, why don't you try to debate and illustrate your view on the movie? I'm always interested in other peoples opinions about a film.
Just a provocation post, but it's laid out in a somewhat logical fashion. I don't agree with the over use of generalizations used throughout it though, and some of the priorities you place on "flaws" I find odd, as they do more good than harm. But I'll answer each.
Bruce Wayne: Man of Inaction
Bruce Wayne is a straw man who is supose to come off as hollow, and Batman is a monolilth. The only moments when you can ever see the man, is when dealing with his only 2 familiars, Alfred, and Fox. During these moments, Bale dose come alive, but its very subdued. I felt it. Granted, there were far less of them this time around, as opposed to Begins, but I support the decision to give more screen time to others in a sequel.
World's Greatest Detective, my ass
Batman is as slick as snot when he's up against Joe thug, in this movie. Not a hair out of place, getting that money back from Hong Kong, the difference being, we get to see him prepare. It's when ever he runs into Joker that things seem to go wrong for him...
If Drunks could talk...
Hehe... Ok, every one makes fun of this.
There's no time for explaining!!!
There is no grand plot to unravel this time, it's mostly about every one reacting to what Joker does, who has no real final goal. There is nothing to really explain, as the whole point behind any of the later schemes, is to incite a reaction, at the time it happens. The end result is not important to these attacks, it's how they are dealt with, and how this affects them as they continue to progress through the movie. It would be far better to say, this movie gives you no break to reflect on what happened.
Look, up in the sky! It's SuperBitch!
Your so right. I mean Vicky Vale got way better treatment in her next film. Honestly, Rachel cannot hang around the franchise, because Batman can't have a happy relationship. That means she has to not be there when the film starts, be a bitch and leave Bruce, or Die. Nolan chooses to deal with real emotions, and motivations from Rachel, who's in the hard position of knowing she loves Bruce but can't be with him. The part I am most impressed with, is that this dilemma is resolved in a mature, unexpected fashion, before she dies, as it would have been far easier to throw the question in the air and cack her before the audiance has a answer.
Location, Location, Location
The underground parkade, and mall, that proceed this scene are quite interesting. This set also sets a definite mood to Gotham, in a repeating style of architecture, something not easy to do when filming in a fictional city. With out so much as a thought, when seeing the Hong Kong cityscape, I immediately know that I am not in Gotham city.
I'm also quite impressed with the transitions that are made during the opening bank heist, going from sky scrapper, roof, lobby, vault, and street side, as each of these locations has extremely different filming challenges, but all are sewn together seamlessly.
With the amount of discussions and blogs dedicated to having a problem with The Dark Knight, members here are convincing me time and time again that this film is heavily underrated.
This is a group set up to celebrate our favorite little nerdling Jason A.K.A. Fish. He's going off to collage so as a gift to him I have created this group.
