I agree with C.H. Gorog.....I found the movie a little boring. Liked it the very first time I watched it, but that's it. Its not a movie I would see more than once.

Having read your blog, I have to say this.
1) I'm sure the actual Italian Mafia were much more ruthless than depicted in the Godfather. However, you must also consider creative liberties. The Godfather is not based on true events, the Corleone family did not actually exist. Therefore, it's unfair to argue that the characters are not like the actual Italian mafia. A more credible arguement would be the rooftop chase in the film The Untouchables (a film I love, by the way) since that is based on actual events and the rooftop chase never actually happened.
2) Yes, the movie is very long and I can see where one would find it slow paced. However, it does take place over an extremely long period of time (at least long for a movie). It's been a while since I've seen it, but it's at least a few years for sure. It's hard to make that seem quick paced when it deals with the many years of one's life.
3) I never really thought about focus being a big problem in the movie. I never really had a problem focusing on all the different storylines. That being said, I am also good at keeping track of that sort of thing, so I'm not really sure.

1) Fair enough. I just find the romanticism of such a serious subject to be a little outdated.

3) It's just that there is no center to the storytelling, in my opinion. Is the family the center? Is it Michael? It sort of jumped around to suit the purpose of the story, so I found it a little jarring.

Ugh, another one from the "Godfather is slow and boring" crowd. The Godfather is well deserving of its rank as one of the greatest movies of all time. Godfather Part II, on the other hand, is definitely overrated. *flame shield, ACTIVATE!*

Ugh, another one of those defensive Godfather fans. It's just my opinion. I didn't think it was a bad movie at all, just overrated. I have similar feelings on Part II.
