hey everyone; it's time once again for a couple of bad Oscar nominations. At E!Online they published the whole list of oscar nominated films. the front-runner seems to be The King's Speech (12 nominations), which, as British filmcritics have pointed out, does well in the US because Americans like relations between royalty and "commoners". Other big Oscar contender (10 nominations) is True Grit by the Coens which i still have to watch but I think it may be a very good Western. Inception and Social Network both got 8 nominations but sadly enough Christopher Nolan is not included in the Best Director's list but hey I still think it's a great film. Toy Story 3 got 5 nominations, as did Black Swan and Winter's Bone. The Fighter, 127 Hours both got 6 nominations. The Kid's Are All Right got 4 nominations but Alice in Wonderland (that's right, the film we could not have hated more) also got 3. Personally, if Ricky Gervais were to host the Oscars and bring that up I'd be happy to see the promoters of that film being thoroughly embarassed. Anyway, let me know what you think of this year's list of potential winners, and what your favourite movie was in 2010.

here's the link to the list:

how the hell did nolan NOT get nominated for best directer?!

ugh!

cause then Hollywood would have to admit that making stupid blockbusters is not good enough anymore.
that's true :). I'm sure he does not care about the awards; he cares about story, characters and atmosphere.

Yeah, and as for the Golden Globes, who cares. He didn't need to win any of those fucking awards.

His balls are Golden Globes.

Hey but that doesn't make it a bad film. I can accept the fact that it does not win because it's in good company among mostly independent-minded films. At last, the Academy recognizes artistic skill.
i just hope they give Inception some kind of recognition.

all of you people are talkin about how Nolan was snubbed. What about Ben Affleck for The Town? Shit, The Town didn't get any goddamn nominations except Jeremy Renner for Supporting Actor. and poor Jim Carrey got snubbed for the fourth time for Best Actor. at this point, who gives a shit about the Academy?

how dare they didn't give Best Director Oscar nomination to Nolan. Inception has better and fresh direction than The Social Network.

I once predicted that Christopher Nolan will win this year's Best Director Oscar while The Social Network win this year's Best Picture, but then they basterdize it up.

I had a theory abou Daft Punk not getting nominated that involved their anonymous nature, but then again they clearly nominated Banksy with Exit Through the Gift Shop.

Some other things that were missing (besides Nolan); Scott Pilgrim for Visual Effects, Vincent Cassell for Best Supporting Actor, Ben Affleck for Best Director, Julianne Moore for Best Supporting Actress.
