No Country for Old Men SUCKS! (Ranting in the morning while sleepy)

(NOTE: This is not a review, it's a rant. Reviews are better constructed)

It does. Well in my opinion anyways. And before any of you decide to act like pretenious college students and be all "Oh its about the changing of criminals and thinking about the old days" just take your fingers off the keyboard. First off, when I've talked about this film here's the reactions I've got from everyone: "Oh that film with the guy that kills everyone". Now you'll probably associate this kind of response with action fanboys. That isn't really the case here, the real case is that Anton's the only one to actually do anything in this film. I've tried to like this movie but I can't because it's missing out The Coen Brother's strong point: Characters. The film is about nothing and the characters are...Well there aren't any. It's based off a terrible book made to trick people into thinking it's a deep story when it's just a string of unending bore after bore. Safe that crap for the film fesitivals. What are these boring scenes? Well every scene of the movie. It drags on for far too long in each scene. We are shown every small action. Example: Anton opens the door, Anton checks the mail, Anton looks around, Anton looks around more, Anton looks more, Anton gets milk, Anton sit on the couch, Anton drinks the milk. I can't hlep but associate this with a lower-grade student trying to get more marks in his essay by using words he doesn't know the meaning of while waflfing on about it. One more point about Anton, he's wildly inconsistant. At the beginning he kills two people. So I guess he's established as a vicious killer right? This is suddenly stopped by a scene where he spares a clerk's life based on a coin, that was an awesome scene but he never does it again. After that he goes like The Joker and kills everyone. A terrible villain but he's a penny in a pile of shit.

I'm not gonna go on about the rest of the films because it's similar complaints on the pointlessness of those parts and it's 4:30 in the morning. This film shows how gullible the average film viewer really is in their desire to feel superior whatever way possible. In this case it's to feel like they have some spark of intelligence by understanding this, supposadly, deep film. And before you accuse me of doing this, I am ranting about a film on the Internet typing angrily on my keyboard; does that sound intelligent? Thought not.

Love you all xxx

I liked the bad guy from the film............and that is it!

I hated Brolin's character, so I couldn't care when his life was in danger

I disagree. Lee Jones added a sad depth to the film and he gave a rather good performance. Brolin's death may have been anticlimactic, but I was satisfied and had no problem with the film.
Funny thing actually. The first time I watched the film it was on USA and when it came back from the commercial break it just showed Brolin dead. I flipped inside my head. I was thinking "was it really that graphic that they had to cut it out on cable?"
So when I watched it a second time and read some reviews I heard that was the central issue with the film. Phew I thought!

It was not only anti-climatic but it ruined any chance of him having some development. This could have beem the classic western movement where the hero has a stand off with the villain. But no he got killed by a gang.

If you dig a good showdown I watched High Noon yesterday and it was pretty good. Anyway I disagree once more. Personally, if I wanted more character development out of Brolin I would have stated a complaint, but I have no complaints. So Brolin served the purpose of the plot and wasn't sympathetic.
We saw enough of Lee Jones. Actually, the perfect amount. He was a sweet but detached person who felt stranded amongst killers which seemed to be everywhere. Like me at a party without a joint, everyone seems to be lighting up.
If we are talking about when Bardem is going door to door while Brolin is getting the briefcase than yes, I was off the wall excited.
I thought that movie was a big pile, too. My thoughts here (More further down)

@Batman

I agree strongly with everything you said. However I don't agree with the Joker part. Us knowing nothing about him made him more mysterious and added to his character. His version adopts the aspect of The Joker where he had multiple personalities; like how he changes the story on how he got the scars. Either he done that to fuck with the characters, or cos he's nuts. Or both. But as you said, we get an idea of his mindset which made him interesting and let us use our imagination.

I agree about Anton though, he's got nothing to bring to the table and is just boring. His lack of emotion makes him completely uninteresting and a poor character. I couldn't agree more about the Sheriff. He's just in the dinner throughtout the film and does nothing.I think it would have been better if Anton had a split-personality and they ended up having a standoff. The wound-cleaning and stick making made me fall asleep, seriously. They could have made these 5 second montages.

You know what else sucks jannifer?

Your opinion.

this movie isn't for every one so yah.....your opinion still suck.

It's Jennifer. And in the end, it's an opinion that no one needs to see as truth. Everything in this thread is an opinion. Suck what, lollipops? I love lollipops :3

Why do you like the film?

Will that means that you like me then.

I'm very happy...

:D look i'm not someone who is pretentious i won't go into deep meaning of life and the change of views on laws and crime and all this though it's nice talk and all.

I liked the scenario and dialog...very good.

Characters are very likable even Antion who is a bad ass still someone i would hate IRL.

The objectives of the characters are very clear and very easy to understand while maintaining a degree of suspense of what will come next though i could have seen the ending from miles away.

But then again i'm a Takashi Miike's IZO fan so....you understand.

I give you 10 points for not replaying to my dick statement earlier with an insult.

another 10 points for good humor and you have 20 points.

With those 20 points you can buy for me something nice ranging from a flower to a bullet.

Take care Jennifer :D

You do make a good point, I did watch a little bit of that movie, but what bothered me about it is it doesn't show the final show down. It just shows you the aftermath. I guess I can understand, to make it seem bigger than it is, but really that's just going to annoy more people, than satisfy.
