Saw haters...I know you hate these movies just don't bother with negative comments.
Saw fans.... feel free to bounce around in excitement =]
I was disappointed with last year's installment, but this one looks really different from any of the other films. The style is really unique, so hopefully it might be as good as the original trilogy, or at least as good as Saw IV.
Damn, I really liked the third installment. It had one of my favorite twists with Amanda. I thought the Jigsaw/Amanda relationship was really engaging.
I would loved saw 3 But when your protagonist is so obsessed over the death of his son that he lets all the people around him die and yells at them at the same time because he didn't get what he wanted. He even killed jigsaw even though he knew his wife would die. Thats why I don't like the third one
If you don't want "haters" to post on your forum discussion, don't make a forum discussion. Take it to a fan site.
You post here, anyone can AND will comment. Nothing you can do about that.
That said, the first Saw film was a decent idea...that quickly got watered down and trite with each subsequent film. Just one flick after another trying to outdo itself with ideas to kill people and thinner and thinner plots. By the time 4 was out, the story was so bare-bones it might as well been a late-80's Friday the 13th sequel. It's a series that SHOULD have stopped at the first...but as Holly is dedicated to drumming this crap out, I'm sure we'll have one each year for a while.
And that's fine. The bargain shelf at Wal-Mart always has room for more.
I can see why people hate these films, but I think everyone has there own guilty pleasure. I really don't see the film makers saying "Let's top the predecessor's body-count!". The real reason I go to see these films, believe it or not, is for the plot itself. Yeah, the traps are fun and interesting artistically, but I really love the story and find it very engaging. No other horror series has had so much intricate detail when it comes to the story because all the subtle things turn out to have so much meaning. Also, I really love Jigsaw and his whole philosophy on death (my philosophy professor actually brought up Jigsaw and his mind frame during a lecture and there have been countless Philosophy articles that reference Saw). Yes, the films have gotten a little over the top, but behind all the gore and sometimes bad acting from supporting roles, lies a solid story that other horror films fail to administer. It's good fun and I'm glad I can expect one of these films every year -- it's a guilty pleasure, and I'm glad I looked passed the things people were saying about these films. I had refused to see the first two Saw films because I thought it was a typical horror film with gore and no plot, plus the critics didn't love them that much. But when my friend forced me to sit down and watch the first two I was just appalled at what I had been missing out. Everyone has different opinions though, and I respect your thoughts.
