Being a massive rock music fan, I proudly labelled Muse best band of the decade! Im into so many fucking classic bands and Muse just miss the top ten!
But today I heard their latest offering The Resistance!
I think of this album as all the forgotten Muse tracks with diluted guitar parts, bleepy 80's keyboard and sun shine pop influenced choruses. No tracks on the album stand out, it sounds very one note and try to press on their many Queen impersonations.
The vocals are good and some of the bass parts are impressive, but its just a collection of tracks that should be shamed by their incredible back catalouge! doubt I will be listening to this any time again soon

I disagree. Undisclosed Desires is an incredible track. Its sounds like they are experimenting with sounds, possibly where their music is going. The back up vocals caught me off guard and it was a little hard to get used to in some of their songs. You're right in saying that there is some sound from Queen, less influence though its only noticeable in one song. I love this album and it is a far cry from Black Holes and Revelations, but its well worth a listen maybe even purchase.
Ive listened to the album on Spotify and its defo a grower, Im no Queen fan, like a few tracks but thats all, but Muse are defo better than Queen in my book.
I'm undecided if this album is their best or second best, below Absolution. Musically, the album is outstanding, with Exogenesis being one of the finest album closers ever. I think many Muse fans have found their style developing further and further away from Origin of Symmetry (what most old-school Muse fans consider their best album), with less purely guitar-driven songs, and more classical and 80's synth influences. In my opinion, it is quite hard to compare this album with the others, just as it is difficult to compare Absolution with Origin, as each album captures the band at the time it was released.
I felt this album was just full of missed oportunities. It sounds like their just experimenting, and even though I'm usually all for a band trying new things, here it seems that it takes a toll on the songs. A lot of the songs I feel are good but don't exactly reach their full potential. For instance, the symphonies. They are all very well written, BUT each one feels to end too soon and seem to be underdeveloped. The album is good but I expected a bigger more grandiose sound. Maybe it's because United States of Eurasia was the first song I heard off the album, but I just expected more.
I really liked the CD, Muse is one of my favorite modern bands. It really reminded me why I love Muse so much, my favorite track is Unnatural Selection.
I think rappers can be fantastic writers. It is just unfortunitly all the rap tracks that get a lot of play have horrible lyrics but I mean it is the same thing with rock and pop too. A lot of the rock songs on the radio have horrible lyrics (look at any nickleback song) because to get radio play you have to have a good tune not good words
i liked the album. i think it deserves more credit. the only other album ive heard from Muse is Absolution and The Resistance definately doesnt beat that

We really do need an alternate alphabet system...
(( The Latin Alphabet is good for communication, but the Irish need something that works.))
