Is that a trick question? Most of the "Good" sci-fi movies are not obscure simply because they ARE good. It's a genre that I love, but even I'll admit that it's over-flooded with really shitty movies.

Quick scan of streaming movies on Netflix you might wanna give a view:

The Final Countdown... Modern aircraft carrier gets time-jumped to right before Attack on Pearl Harbor.

The Andromeda Strain - 1971 original, not the remake.

Fire and Ice: Animated early 1980's movie

The Man Who Fell To Earth --- David Bowie, might be hit/miss..... Kind of a cult movie than anything else

C.H.U.D. -- really more of a horror movie, but still might give it a shot

Lifeforce: British movie of space vampires. It's hit/miss as well with most people.

Those are the only ones that I could really recommend. The rest on Netflix that I might suggest fall into more Horror and "So bad, that you fall in love with it because it's so damn bad".... which means, it's hard to suggest because you can't be sure if it's going to be enjoyed or not.
