I guess I would say Psycho (1998). I always saw the point of a remake as a re-imagining and new take on a classic story, and to simply do a shot for shot version of a classic movie seemed redundant, a waste of time, and kind of insulting.
Is the American Godzilla considered a remake? If so that.
