Like you, I was excited for the latest Modern Warfare, until I heard some disturbing news that made me cancel my pre-order.
It looks like Infinity Ward is only catering to Console players. The servers will NOT be dedicated servers, but instead will be solely run by Infinity Ward. Which means that all the PC players that were playing Modern Warfare1, will loose their abilities to host game-servers. Meaning that most of the "Clans" will collapse or stay with Modern Warfare 1. There isn't any ability to MODERATE the online games, so expect a bunch of hackers, cheats, and TK's to happen WITHOUT anyone being able to do anything about it. Expect the games to ONLY be able to host 8vs8, which sucks. The "Advancements" will be negated in the game's "Coolness factor" by the possibility that you'll have to PAY a subscription for Online content.
Basically, whoever is in charge of this property at Infinity Ward has dropped the ball. Instead of being focused on the GAME's ability to draw in people, they are focusing on the Consoles ONLY, and have lost a projected 10-15Mill in lost PC sales alone. Even worse, knowing the PC version will be about 2weeks later, means there are projections of 20-25mill because people will NOT purchase the game. Local retailers are PISSED, because they've been "promised" X-amounts of games to fill out their Pre-orders, and now that the PC players are leaving in droves, they are going to be flooded with inventory that they have to let sit on their shelves, which EATS into their profits because of non-selling games on the shelves.
you haven't even played the game yet, it could come smudged in s**t, it could be the biggest dissapointment ever, all you could be doing is working yourself up to be let down

The more I see of it the less anxious I get. Almost everything they've added into multiplayer is ridiculous and somethings are just inane. I can't imagine how upset these PC players are but as a Xbox 360 player who only plays online with his friends, taking out party chat is the worst decision they've made. The singleplayer will be just another Call of Duty game. Some of the missions will be fun but overall I'll skip over as much of the story as I can because I couldn't care less. The only thing I'm looking forward to is Spec Ops.

Trust me, the PC players are PISSED OFF.
Last report that I saw, there was an estimated 750000 pre-orders canceled due to the things that they did in the Multiplayer game. It's a clear-cut case where the game was being "custom-made" to the Console-Multiplayer platform and not online. What's worse, the "Additions" added into the game sounded more like "Halo" than actual "Warfare".
Riding/Firing from Vehicles (A la Halo's Warthogs)
Grenades are supposed to "Stick" to people/objects.
Duel-Wielding Fully Automatic weapons.
Riot-Shields that the guy up front can carry so that their is a "Barrier" between you and two targets.
Multiplayer option has NON-moderator ability.
Maps are all "Pre-rendered", meaning there are no abilities to ALTER maps.
Games are supposed to be only 8 vs 8, yet you are supposed to get 10kills to call in the AC130. (Meaning you'll need to TK at least 2 of your own team to get it)
No 2nd-party servers, meaning all "Clans" are screwed.
No "Private games", the online ability is filled first come, first served. Meaning you'll probably NOT get to play with your friends online unless using the same console.
"Achievements" means opening additional weapon options, not "Rank".
Yeah im gutted about this, I never got MW1 for PC but was always jealous of PC players being able to play 24/7 maps, I was looking forward to being able to choose which maps to play on :(

i highly highly doubt it's gonna be 8v8. Also, I'm sure if you are on an xbox live party with somebody u'll join the same game. I could see why the pc players are pissed, but I've always played COD on the box so i'm not so worried. the game looks pretty awesome to me
Okay, first off, you cannot say a game is great unless you have actually playing through the majority of the thing. Since, for all we know, the game could be crap.
I'm looking less forward to it after their absolutely atrocious "Frag Spamming PSA" which made me lose faith in the developer. Sure, I'll probably still get the game, but I'm a lot less excited because of such a huge judgment error made by Infinity Ward.

Dude, are you serious? The Fight Against Grenade Spam PSA was absolutely a riot. I play on a "Tactical" server, and "Random/Bland Nades" will get you banned. If you aren't clearing a room, setting off claymores or with VISUAL contact of UNIFORM you don't toss a grenade. However, the fact that they "STICK" to you? That's bullshit all the way.
And yes, I know what the acronym spells out. But the fact is, with Modern Warfare 1's small maps, Nade-spam IS for pussies.
Sticky grenades may work for Halo but not this, although random grenades dont bother me that much as ive seen far worse on Battlefield 2 whare it is a complete grenade fest at times.
The drum beat is getting louder. Check out the bit from 60 Minutes on Cameron.

What I was wondering is is it worth the extra money for the badges? I am a big Star Trek fan, and getting bigger the more I watch. Has anyone else bought this version and how good are the badges? Are they good replicas, or really cheap plastic?
