at first i didn't see the need for this, but then i thought; this would be real useful in japan , correct me if i'm wrong but isn't their population is expected to shrink by 70% within 50-100 years. and it seems their society is getting more disconnected opting for a solutions which require less and less human interaction... more robots.

The reason for the decline in population is (im not sure if this applies to all Asian cultures but it does for China and Thailand) that their whole society dictates that only the males are allowed to support the parents. So if you only have girls the parents have no one to take care of them. Thats one of the reasons why they have a high rate of abortion. And the male to female ratio is very much skewed to the male side. Also the reduced interactions with humans plays a part as well.

actually in indonesia and malaysia,traditionally women are regarded equally and possibly even more than the man as the head of the household. i know this cause i'm half indonesian, but i wouldn't know much about china or thailand.

but back to japan; i once read a book by an american professor and his wife who lived in japan for several years. In their japanese apartment, they managed to befriend one of their neighbors. The neighbor was a mother of a family and she admitted that there were family issues at their home. but it wasn't a marital issue between her and the husband. it was a problem between the father and son. apparently, the son had never met his father despite the fact that they lived in the same home, because the father would always come home from work late after the boy was asleep and would go to work before the boy woke up. so one day when the father was feeling very ill at work he decided to go home early. much to the surprise of the boy who came home from school to find a person he didn't recognize sitting at the couch watching TV. so the boy freaked the hell out because he thought there was a stranger who had broken into his home and was sitting at their couch!

Actually this would make a good movie...

In a future where all babies are made artificially because humans are too lazy to be sexually engaged. It turns out that at the age of puberty the artificial babies die for some reason and the movie is all about a mother trying to keep her artificial son from dieing.... I'd pay to go see it...

That's exactly what they are acting like, that's pretty much what all scientist who get into a field like that do, They try to be god.

I bet any money that scientist can today find a cure for cancer if they work on it. The reason they don't is because they want cancer patients to spend money on treatment that is temporary. If they cure cancer, then all the money they make from chemotherapy and stuff like that goes down the toilet.
