Dragonball Z barely works as an Anime, why make it a movie? Dragonball Z is the low point of the Dragonball series, and can never be considered a good story. It was just fun when we were little, that's it.
The studio has nothing to do with the quality. What they need is a good script, good director, and good actors. And they need to set it in Japan as well, but they won't.
But it would alter the entire story. The setting is a big part of Death Note. But Hollywood won't allow an Asian actor to be in the lead role, so they will make it set in America.

One day there will be a good live action anime adapted movie.
