Hi everyone! First I'd like to say that Spill has to be one of my favorite websites ever, I've been following it since 07 and I'm really glad I came across it. Although I dont participate much in discussions on this site I pay close attention to whats going on and I gotta say that community is really cool.

Now, I'm a young guy thats starting to really think about what I wanna do for the rest of my life. I'm a huge movie head and I really want to go into the film industry. I've never produce any film but I'm starting to get into something that could be the next best thing to sort of get involved in film making or at least story telling. Video games have gone ridiculously far in our days, they offer a lot more than they did from the NES days. But I'm not here to write a history report on video games, I'm here to talk about Machinima. You guys may be familiar with this, if not its basically making an animated short using a game engine. The most popular games associated with this are Halo, G-mod, WoW and a few others. Machinima is becoming more and more popular with games adding features to support machinima directors. I spend a lot of time playing video games and combining my two loves of films and video games could result in me finally finding something I could go for.

I've been playing around with the idea for several months now, and finally decided to give it a try. I've created my first machinima complete with voice acting and well not exactly the most outstanding plot. It's a short comedy machinima. Comedy is not usually my style but I decided to start off with something simple just to see what I can pull off. I really want some feedback on this video because I would really like to stick to this and I'll always be looking for ways to improve. Thank you for reading my boring post here, and if you didnt...well check out my video anyway lol.

Hey man I'm all for constructive criticism dont hold back lol, but anyway thanks a lot! As you can see I have no voice acting talent lol. I am working on writing more believable dialogue and better voice acting as I go. Thanks for the advice on how to practice it, I'll definitely try it out.
You encoded the video at 55 seconds when they run out you can see the interlace was encoded wrong. In your editing software you can fix this.

I'm guessing you recorded this in 1080i best to record in 720p.

These was a real Machinima movie made about a month ago. I just can not remember the name of it right now that GTA movie is one and a half hour long.

The problem with machinima is that its all fanbase and you'll never be able to make any money at it else they approve you and give you the OK.

There was a Terminator Machinima made by Machinima.com that was a back store to Terminator 4 you can see the Trailer on YouTube but you have to buy the episodes on XBOX 360, PS3 or iTunes to watch it.

The video game company that made Abes Odyssey for PS1 and XBOX 1 I heard they wanted to get out of the video game business and work on professional machinima and use the Half-Life 2 engine to produce childrens programing for third world countries like India. They said there is a huge market for children programing if you can produce it as a affordable price.
Thanks for the feedback Cracker. Yeah machinima is a fanbase thing, but what I'm trying to get into is the Directors program in the Machinima site. Most of the directors use popular games for their machinima. I imagine is not exactly the hardest thing to because the machinimas are not exactly high quality production. Most of them consist of short comedy skits. Hopefully me future work I'll be putting up soon will be good enough to be considered.

I will say this is is very good practice for film making because your able to film in ways you can not do else you have a Hollywood budget.

There are some Machinima tools for PS3 in home.  You can buy a room in home for five dollars.

Wow I wasnt aware of this, thanks for the heads up. This will be useful for more realistic everyday films.
