Lost in Transition
first off I apologize if this has been discussed before, The Spill Crew has been a wonderful source of entertainment for me at my mind numbing job, but I just recently joined the forums.
Ok comics, movies, and video games are increasingly trying to cross over into one another, this has resulted in great movies and not just horrible but embarrassing failures. I'm sure that many of you have seen a beloved comic or game turned into a horrible movie (or vice versa).
My question to you all is when this has happened what were the most important factors of the game/comic/movie, that the creators overlooked or focused on.

ok a small example I can think of would be the X-men movie, I personally think that if they had put the characters in the same costumes as the comic, it would have looked horrible.
The examples of movies turned into bad video games are abundant, but most of the time it's because they took a substandard game to begin with and simply slapped their properties on it.

well sometimes they overlooked the fact that they should not of done it at all LOL.
You cant get everything the fans would want into a movie based on video games and sometimes comics and I would even say books at times and lets not get into graphic novels LOL.
Plus they tend to overlook what the fans would have wanted to see the most in such a movie.
these type of movies tend to only work for an audience they has never played the game or read the comic it was based on.
Fanboys of these medias will rip these movies a new one while people that are unfamiliar with what they were based off of might enjoy them.
Although I yes I did like spider man 3 and and I did like wolverine but not so much x men 3 so there is some hope for me LOL.

I guess the reason i bring this up, because we got 2 transition movies coming up that I'm worried about. One being the World of Warcraft movie, and I'm hearing that they are trying for a another Capt. America movie. I played way too much WoW until the last expansion, and unless the movie is 100% CG I can't imagine how they can make this work. And as for capt America, this hero has a really bad track record on screen, and I feel like it keeps coming down to that "does not look good on screen" costume.
