Having recently learned about the upcoming game 'The Last Of Us' I would like to know the communities favorite game in an apocalypse setting. (be it zombie, nuclear, or otherwise)

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series for me. It's not only enjoyable for it's highly rewarding gameplay but for the fact that its setting is one of the best I've seen in gaming.
This video perfectly displays how stunningly beautiful and dangerous the zone is in all three games.

Agreed. I can't wait for the mod Stalker Complete 2012 to be fully updated so I can start the game over once again with even better graphics, physics and gameplay.

Metro 2033, it is really hard to play but its fun and very story driven

I can't believe I'm saying this, but that is an excellent choice and for once I actually respect your opinion. I recommend checking out the novel if you like the game, it's an excellent read.
That being said, I think S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is better overall.
