This was a great graphic novel. I finished it today in one sitting. The art is pretty stunning, and the story is really good too. This book was leaps and bounds beyond The Dark Knight Returns. Controversial opinion. Discuss.

I downloaded it recently, it's ok.
wrong and wrong.
I liked it, very detailed art and so many easter eggs
AND hidden cameos

ha ha
I love Kingdom Come. Captain Marvel creeped me out reading it the first time.

No, Captain Marvel's fucking weird. You had a reason to be creeped.
One again Batman is prepared for the outcome.
Cause Batman is gangstah as hellllllllll.
Alex Ross's grossly obvious masturbatory ode to the Golden Age of DC. It's good. Captain Marvel is really cool in this, actually a competent match for the end-all-be-all that is Superman.
I read this years ago and still hold onto it as a classic in my collection. I was dissapointed that the only nod the DCAU ever gave to this graphic novel was one fight between Superman and Captain Marvel in Just League Unlimited that, while cool to watch, wasn't as intense or meanigful besides one super strong guy being stubborn and another one being optimistic.
I'm planning on getting this.
I agree with the "better than TDK Returns" approach. I mean, both are awesome examples of narrative, but Kingdom Comes thematic content is just so much larger in scope in terms of the whole "what do you do when the people you love and protect turn on you?" When you stand up for good, but those you protect are capable of such a degree of evil, what's the next step?

Plus, it's got one of the biggest "Oh SHIT." moments in comics. When (I'm assuming people who're reading this have read KC, if not, read no further, here there be spoilers) the smoke from the nuke clears and once Superman does his big NOOOOOOOO!!! Just the one shot of him looking up with tears of rage in his eyes, which are bloodred, just chilled my shit when I first saw it.
I did a review of dkr only about 2 weeks ago. honestly i didn't care for it much at all, but everything else i agree with you fo sho!
