This was a great graphic novel. I finished it today in one sitting. The art is pretty stunning, and the story is really good too. This book was leaps and bounds beyond The Dark Knight Returns. Controversial opinion. Discuss.

That's a tough call, sir. But Kingdom Come deals with broader issues than the Dark Knight Returns IMO. It would probably be better to compare Marvels and Kingdom Come, but hey, it's your world and I'm just living in it.

And yes, I admit I have no answer for this at the moment. Will need to dig out both these out and go through them again before I can try to formulate an informed response.
It's cool man. Truthfully they aren't very similar, I just happened to read and review them within a month of each other. That's the only reason why I compared them this way.
Definitely the height of Mark Waid (the Flash) writing. A wonderful story about responsibility and guilt. Pretty much what Infinite Crisis borrows. The old heroes realize they are no more guilty for leaving the super hero business any more than the new age heroes that they are repulsed by.

Alex Ross pretty much ripped off Norman Rockwell with the way he does sculpted hard edged chins.

It's a wonderful piece.
