Kids at comic book movies
So I went to watch the Captain America Movie on Friday, and sure enough there were quite some children there. I watched the movie and enjoyed it quite thoroughly and waited patiently for the credits to end to see the avengers trailer. After that, some guy said, "Better not bring the kids to that one!", and the person who was sitting next to me siad, "Yeah, should've left them at home in the first place!". Now, while I tend to not like it when parents bring their kids to movies that obviously kids should not see, e.g. Watchmen; I couldn't see why they should't be at a comic book movie like Captain America. Not only is the movie perfect for them, but they didn't even bother me one bit during the movie. They kept quiet and didn't cause a disturbance.
Anyway, what do you think? Should kids not be taken to comic book movies because the generation that grew up with them are older and feel it is a special privilege to them only, or because they tend to be loud and obnoxious? Or, is it fair game because these types of movies(though not all) tend to market toward the children?

A PG-13 rating is not an immediate "don't bring the kids" signal. Sometimes, films like all three Transformers films or The Simpsons Movie tend to push the limit on what PG-13 films can show, which is why you have to be careful on what films you choose to take the kids to (ie, Michael Bay is not kid-friendly). I agree that comic book movies have become more mature, but most of them should still be appropriate for kids. Thor and Captain America are the most kid-friendly comic book movies to come out within the past decade or so, and they're not alone.
I seem to recall being 11 when I went to see Spider-Man 2 by myself, and it was the first PG-13 movie I went to where both my parents and the people at the theater said "We don't care!"

Funny.... Last week, you guys went on about how you didn't know who I was. Now, you know me too well. :P
I actually prefer going to see movies by myself. When I want to hang out with my friends, I want to talk with them. When I go to a movie, I want to shut the hell up and watch it. In that regard, the two don't really coincide.

I'm not discussing whether or not kids should be brought to PG-13 movies, as I myself think of it as more or less a healthy warning rather than an outright ban on kids. What I am discussing is the nonsensical way in which fans of the comic books seem to want exclusive rights to watch the film, even if others (such as kids) are well behaved.

I am usually annoyed by kids but I am even more annoyed how these goddamn fanboys think they are the only ones entitled to a motion picture, if the kids are totally quiet I think it's fine to bring them there.

What theater do u go to because the kids at my theaters are so f'n annoying especially when they come in packs. Such as a birthday party or some school trip.

I go to a Cinemark, but I haven't gone into a theater with kids in a long time, so this was a rare occurence for me. In fact the problem I tend to have is with drunk frat guys who can't shut up during the movie.

No kidding, i think some 13 year olds were stoned at my viewing of Alice In Wonderland, if you know my taste its no question how i felt about that movie.
We dont have a Cinemark in Denver, i have to go out of my way to see some art house films or independent.
My uncle dragged me to see Transformers 3, if i had seen it by myself the film would have been a fuck you but because my awesome uncle was with me we laughed hard at Ken Jeong and the stupid Victoria Secret Bimbo.
Does anyone really care that she is a shitty actress? She is HOT!!!

The texting and talking bother me, but as far as the going to the bathroom...well it is nature's call. Can't blame them for that I guess.
