This comic is incredible, there has been, what, 5 issues? and they're already making a movie! IMDB says that the movie version has Nicholas Cage in it, though.
anyway, the comic. basically, it's about real life super heroes. let me quote wikipedia here; Dave Lizewski, an otherwise ordinary New York City high school student and the child of Greg Willer, loving single father, takes his interest in comic books as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. He assembles a suit and mask, which he wears under his normal clothing, begins exercising, and practices things like walking on roofs, sating his ambitions for a time.
The movie looks terrible...but that's because it has wrapped up before the comic book's initial arc has. Same thing happened with Wanted. Millar sold the rights before he even finished it and what you have is the studio version.
Almost every Mark Millar book is Mark Millar trying to sell it to Hollywood. This and the last one he did about soldiers in Iraq getting superpowers from the military are more or less just movie pitches. Millar is the new Liefeld.
Ouch. That is a bit harsh. Yea, I think Millar is a little tacky with his "subtle" political views (I say that tongue in cheek). I'm just glad I know he will never be working for BBC with so many inaccuracies about America.
War Heroes has a lot of plot holes that you can drive a truck through it.
Ironically I just got the first issue. I saw it and remembered The League talking about it so I got it. I must say it's orgasmic. I'm going back next week to get issue 2 and 3.
How much you guys had paid for this anyway? I got mine 9.99$ at the local comic book store, although I own issues 1-6, I'm going to buy the paperback version.
I think Kick-Ass sold me on something it wasn't. I thought it would be this realistic take on a guy trying to be a superhero but then Big Daddy and Hit-Girl were introduced. I think its entertaining but like a lot of Millars work, little substance. Also the delays are crazy.

My point.
I mean, I'll continue reading it, but I enjoyed it cause it was a comic book that seemed to be grounded in reality, now it's like... eh, a Kill Bill film.
This is a meet up group for New York Spillers, It’s less about partying but more about socializing with Spill members and anybody else that’s interested in attending.
