What TV series and Movies hasn't been released on DVD that you're really gunning for? What ones should the studios get their thumbs outta their asses and release?
The DVD release for "The Adventures of Pete and Pete season 3" has been out of action for about 3 years now, it really pisses me off that they're dragging it out. The show deserves a full release and a box set.
While I haven't been keeping up with the news on Paramount releases, I think one element that is holding Daria back from DVD is the music rights. If you go back and watch the series, you'll notice there are 3-5 popular songs of the time inserted into the background. Whether or not Paramount has the rights to them for a DVD release is beyond me, but that's the one thing I can imagine holding back this release.
And if they do hurry it, I guarantee you the soundtrack will be cut up.
I would love to see the first and only season of Vengeance Unlimited hit DVD. It starred Michael Madsen, who played Mr. Chapel. Mr. Chapel would seek out people who have been wronged and would offer them his help in getting even. All he would ask for in return is either One million dollars, or a favor that he could collect from you at anytime, and once that favor is complete, you never see him again. What made this show great was how Mr. Chapel always seemed to be 3 steps ahead of everyone else. The creators of this show also made the short lived Profit (which starred Adrian Pasdar), and later worked on Angel. If the only season of Profit is on DVD (and I have it!), then there is no reason for Vengeance Unlmited to not be on DVD
I love to see a Criterion'd version of Orson Welles' The Magnificant Ambersons. It would be cool if they could find the extra footage and go back and re-edit it to be more like the original cut of the movie (sort of like they did with the DVD version of Touch of Evil). I've actually e-mailed Criterion with this request, and for them to put out some of Orson Welles' Shakespeare plays on DVD.
Also, we need a Region 1 version of Santa Sangre, just because I love Jodorowsky's stuff, and this is supposedly his best film, and yet I haven't got to watch it. Maybe one day...
Also also, we need a worthy edition of Night of the Hunter. The movie is out of print now, so maybe they're working on a good special edition *cross fingers*.
And for TV shows...
The big one is the old Adam West Batman. I'd totally buy the entire series day one if this ever came out.
The only other one I can think off of the top of my head is Boston Public, a drama that came on Fox in 2000ish. Love to sit down and watch those again.
Night of the Creeps, and for Tv I'm going with It's Your Move. Jason Bateman was awesome in that. I'd also like to see Double Trouble with those twins that did dance bits sometimes on the show. They were what dreams are made of.
That special edition for The Night of The Hunter that MGM has been talking about since late '05.
The other six seasons of King of The Hill.
Fox released the sixth season of KoTH in september of '06 & haven't even
given a rough estimate as to when they plan on releasing any of the
subsequent seasons.
&
The short-lived, but very well-done CBS series Frank's Place.
