Considering people have made stop-motion LEGO Star Wars videos and fan made films anyone can make one.

Probably if they get him to oversee what they're doing or come up with some standard(GREAT) ideas for the sequels. We could get the FU film.

List of directors who could direct Star Wars and (hopefully) not f**k it up

christopher nolan

joss whedon

francis ford coppola

ridley scott

james cameron

Oliver Stone

Stephen Spielberg

etc.

And since he owns the franchise (Unfortunately) you'd have to wait till either he dies or he gives the rights to 20th century fox

Me neither. When kids in school said, "I love your mother's taco!" to me, I always agreed because she makes great tacos.

As far as I'm aware you still need to get his permission.  He has final say on all projects (from video games to books) and needs to approve the direction they take.  Though projects have some leeway (like the Clone Wars series) it is ultimately his decision. 

I vaguely recall him turning down the idea for some Princess Leia prequel novels as they would have clashed with the upcoming live action TV series.  But I know which one I’d rather see developed!  Neither.
