sart with slowly responding with your opinion on a forum. if someone says some constructive things don't respond. slowly when you read some of the comments made by others you will understand how it works. ask questions and also tell about what you know in case someone is interested ;)

Well, first off you already made a good start.

Way too many newbies around here lack courtesy to properly introduce themselves, then go about making asses of themselves, trying to be witty, or talking about The Dark Knight.

So, kudos to you for breaking the mold.

And to answer your question...I suppose the best way to become an active member is the embrace the difference between this site and every other: with this one...you have absolutely no reason to hold back your punches. Let loose. And let your imagination fly, I guess. Find a topic that interests you, and just say whatever is on your mind.

Just don't make a damn fool of yourself.

One thing you shouldn't worry about is becoming an active member. Just enjoy yourself, join in topics in your spare time and listen to the reviews.

Or

Like most members, create a 'Dark Knight' topic as they think it hasn't ever been done on such a small forum as this, and enjoy the nice, eager helpful comments from the many around the spill community.

I say just do whatever interests you, and use common sense when talking to others.
If your stupidity is shown too vividly without you thinking about what you've said, people shall bash on you horribly ._.
