In your opinion, would you consider these films to be horror films?

Hello, Spill Community. Long time listener, first time poster. Hope to be here for a long time. Anyway, with Halloween approaching on Monday, I thought I would pose a question to the Spill community and ask them on their opinions on certain films. We know films like Exorcist, TCM, Halloween, NOES, Friday the 13th, Child's Play, etc. are all considered horror films, but would you consider these films to be horror films too?

- A Clockwork Orange
- JAWS
- Alien
- Ghostbusters
- Gremlins
- The Terminator
- Critters
- Predator
- The Silence of the Lambs
- Jurassic Park
- Fear
- The Ninth Gate
- Zombieland

Feel free to add on.

Uh, no. For me to consider a movie in the horror genre, it has to make me feel genuinely scared, if it uses jump scares to make me feel that way, then I simply dismiss it as a shitty thriller.
Id say, The Terminator & Alien are the closest thing to horror movies from that list. Also, The Silence of the Lambs & Zombieland might be considered being part horror or having horror elements.
Some are Thrillers, Some are Sci Fi, Some are Comedy.  I don't see what I would be considered Horror here.  Jaws would be the closest because it genuinely instills fear in people.  Just ask those who saw it for the first time on the big screen.  People were afraid to go in the water at the beach for a while.  I suppose elements of The Terminator could be classified as horror.

I'm sorry how come A Clockwork Orange is not considered horror by you people?,How can anyone not be scared by this:

The eyes of a charming devil.

A Clockwork Orange- No it's sic-fi

Jaws - Not that scary, but yes

Alien - Yes, sci-fi/horror

Ghostbusters - pfffff, ha ha ha ha ha

Gremlins- ha ha ha ha ha

The Terminator - No sci-fi/action

Critters - Yeah sound like it would be

Predator - No sci-fi/action

The Silence of the Lambs - No, drama, however, Hannibal's escape scene was scary

Jurassic Park - No sci-fi

Fear - No, suspense

The Ninth Gate - Yes, that movie sucked though

Zombieland - Horror/comedy, yes

A Clockwork Orange-no

Jaws-yes

Alien-yes

Ghostbusters-no

Gremlins-yes

The Terminator-no

Critters-no

Predator-no

The Silence of the Lambs-no

Jurassic Park-no

Fear-no

The Ninth Gate-yes

Zombieland-no

A Clockwork Orange- No

Jaws- Yes

Alien- Yes

Ghostbusters- No

Gremlins- No

The Terminator- Yes

Critters- Haven't seen

Predator- No

The Silence of the Lambs- Yes

Jurassic Park- No

Fear- Haven't seen

The Ninth Gate- Haven't seen

Zombieland- No

I would say that stuff like Alien, Predator and Jaws are horror because they are intended to scare people. The Silence of the Lambs has horror elements to it so I would regard that as a horror/thriller film. A Clockwork Orange could be considered a horror film as well because of certain scenes and the general idea of it is pretty scary. The Terminator, Gremlins and Jurrasic Park may have scary scenes but they aren't horror.
