i use to read them alot when i was younger with my cousin. but after i grew up and went to high school i completely stopped. i'm trying to get back into them but im worried that ill be too confused to know whats going on. can someone help me and set me on the right direction on what to read for spider-man, iron man, batman and deadpool? if you can i would greatly appericiate it. only real thing i know whats going on is that bruce wayne is dead and dick grayson is batman now. anything after that i have no idea.

When was the last time anything actually changed in the comic book universe, besides a character getting a new, even shittier costume?

It may be best to move away from Marvel and DC, and try something that you can collect from the beginning with its own self-contained story. Examples like Invinicible, Wolf-Man, Locke & Key and The Living Dead come to mind?
read the entire J. Michael Straczynski run on spiderman.
matt fraction's current run on iron man
the entire cable and deadpool series
For Ironman just read Invincible Iron man, it is only like 27 issues in so just start with issue one

For Batman, DON'T READ IT BECAUSE IT FUCKING SUCKS

Deadpool just read deadpool vol3, and cable and Deadpool

For Spider-man, just read Ultimate spiderman and pretend that the offical canon spiderman doesn't exist.
thanks man, the funny thing is yesterday i bought the first issue of the new batman mini series return of Bruce Wayne. and i guess thats true about the new spider-man being that bad
Actually, the post-Wayne Batman stories have been rather good. I can only hope they keep that douchebag away.
I recommend you pick up some Captain America by Ed Brubaker, Thor by J. Michael Straczynski, and Green Lantern Corp by Peter Tomasi

All great runs and great characters.
Marvel

Civil war-Started great,ended dumb
Secret invasion-TL;DR...I mean,it is not all that interesting but you might need to read in wikipedia who isn't dead or missing.

Dark Reign-Awesome,worth reading
Siege-Pretty epic moments but the end makes the Civil War,Dark Reign and Siege a complete waste of time since it is a reboot still worth reading.

Basically it is a good moment to start reading marvel again since they just rebooted the avengers.

As for DC oh boy you sure missed a lot,Blackest Night/Brightest Day arcs are really neat but they might confuse you.Wait for a hardcover version or an obnibus of this event.

Oh and Batman isn't dead, the new batman reboot just started so you are just in time.

If you want to read some really good stories you can grab Marvel Zombies and Batman the killing joke on any bookstore.
thanks man. i just picked up the first 19 issues in invincible iron man and the first issue of batman: return of Bruce Wayne. im gonna try and pick up the avengers reboot. i was actually trying to pick up blackest night over the summer but everywhere i went was sold up so im jus waiting like u said for hard cover. oh and i read killing joke a while ago it was amazing
I've recently just got back into comics myself. I'm 37 years old and was really big into collecting from high school through much of college but finally dropped off, probably mostly due to my overly embracing Image Comics which failed to provide enough continuity in releases to keep me interested in the hobby as a whole. Recently thanks to the LEOG podcast I've rekindled the flame due to my reading of the Blackest Night crossover. I have to say, I was enormously confused but one thing we do have now is Wikipedia which can be enormously helpful to help you quickly learn about the histories of specific characters.

I'll also second a recommendation for Walking Dead (but it's definitely an extremely dark and violent series).
i actually read the first 2 3 issues of walking dead it was really good i really don't know why i haven't gotten into them yet
