It's completely unnecessary towards critiquing the movie. Plus (and I hate to be that guy) but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't say a word if John Goodman or Seth Rogen was in it.

Ray Reed, that's the guy who makes terrible film reviews like this one. Yeah, this review is pretty damn offensive and there was no need on calling McCarthy a hippo. This has nothing to do with him trashing a film dude. It's the fact that he's verbally attacking someone for no reason other than society expects girls to be something appeasing to look at. And if they're not Kate Upton-tier, they're unhealthily obese, they're disgusting and everything other contribution they offer society is irrelevant.

That review does make me want to read every one of his Judd Apatow movie reviews; this coming from someone who liked 40 Year Old Virgin and I Love You, Man alot. But as snarky as this reviewer was, I've seen lots worse. Our newspaper carries Stephen Whitty, who will take a movie he dislikes and then try to get cute with his review, usually in the style of the genre of the film, and not supply the reader with ANYTHING they can use to make an informed opinion. In such cases, a reviewer quickly becomes a dumbass with a pulpit.
