I'm not sure if this was thought up before, but had an idea on how they could make an interesting movie base on Mass Effect. What if two actors were cast to play lead character Commander Sheppard (male and female), for two ME movies. One actor plays as a "mostly" Paragon Sheppard, while the other is plays Renegade Sheppard. The different Sheppard's action will effect certain outcomes, for each movie and both movies could show other outcomes like one  killing Wrex and the other lets him live. Each movie would be filmed side by side and would have the same supporting cast, but with different scripts for Paragon ME and Renegade ME. But as a movie I think each choice should be different enough, so that it doesn't feel like the same movie, with different leads. Also it shouldn't follow too closely to the game, so to be different enough from the game and since this is a movie, it has limited amount of time tell a story.

Advertising to an audiences who never played the games can be a problem, this could confused them. Advertisers would somehow need show that both movies are the same movie, yet with drastically different story elements(male/female and Renegade/Paragon).

I'm not sure if this idea could work, but please I would love to hear opinions.

Interesting.  Astronomically expensive with (probably) little payoff, but an interesting idea nonetheless.

^ this. Too much work and too much money. It'll never be done.

Yeah, try to sell that idea to anyone.

Don't use Shepard, at all.  Shepard is the players character and her/his story has been told, casting an actor as Shepard is a bad idea and will be alienating.  Use the Skyllian Blitz or First Contact War, or hell the Krogan Rebellions if they find a director ballsy enough to not use humans, that shit can make for a good story without resorting to shoehorning in the Normandy crew.

Wait...isn't playing the games basically just watching a movie anyway?

Yeah, this isn't a good idea. The ME story has massive plotholes and bits of stupid that would make a film seem...well...silly. I don't see the need to make the film at all, and the chance of failure is pretty high.

I would  really like to see Mass effect done as an animated anthology Like (the Animatrix and Batman Gotham Night)

It can't be done. If it needs to be converted it needs to be done by tv.

I was under the impression they were going to go with the First Contact War and maybe Anderson's role in it. Whatever they do, they need to stay away from ME1-ME3.
